Finally an engineer!

It's been a really long time since I started learning a skill from scratch without any prior knowledge. Add to that my utter desinterest for physics in school, my lifetime of resistance against the topic and anything related... and it leaves me with a monumental task ahead of me, wanting to learn this stuff now. Or rather: behind me. I am smack in the middle of it all and have finally feel I have moved past the beginner stage understanding more by the day.

Never thought I'd say this but I think I am becoming an engineer of sorts ;) Out of sheer necessity for where I'm going in life.

It's funny, most engineers I have met chose the field for its promise and because they could relate, but more than anything they chose it as a way to secure a safe job with a high-paying salary that would be in high demand, presumably for a long time.

With me it was pretty much the opposite, I never felt called to learn this stuff in order to work for some megacorp or design things for other people, things I didn't really care about. But now that I am "forced" to move into a camper van and to get my basic electricity lifeline going for my music production , my media production and my steem activities I have great relevance in plowing through all of it. Basics. Techniques. Designations. Pitfalls.

It's a lot to learn.

Wouldn't be anywhere without the other human beings who made their passion for wires, solar systems, battery banks and DIY the center of their life. A hundred questions appeared and eventually got answered through enough persistence and because I have always been a fast learner when I see the merit in the topic.

And it's marvelous that I already start to wonder, dream and long to build things that are way out of my league still. I start seeing the world in a different way, comparing Watts of different pieces of equipment and gauging the efficiency of them in naked comparison.

I have put a box with old cables away in storage with my family so that I can tear it all apart and build stuff out of them when I am ready, meaning when my knowledge allows for it.

There was this decision point about these whole electricity studies when I saw a readymade and overpriced solution online and decided against it. Here I am wanting to build my own farm, making use of everything I learned while doing my utmost to not feed the dying system structure and then I turn around and run to some online retailer and buy something that will not teach me the skills I need, not bring me an inch closer to my goal. No.

Just like in making music I sometimes prefer the hard way, the manual way. Even if it's a steep learning curve.

I don't want continued reliance on matrix companies where I could use that deficit in knowledge as an opportunity to empower myself.

Learning instead how to do this all myself I can not only build my own stuff one day (from "trash" mind you) but it already feels fulfilling to understand things I had no clue about mere weeks ago, especially because I have fought this topic for most of my life due to bad experiences in school presumable.

One day this will also enable me to teach other people who want to do the same thing. And I love sharing what I learned!

Engineers - I am finally on board, it will still take a while but I am catching up fast with ya all ;)
