So I was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal, Earth, around 13.8 short-scale-billion years after the Big Bang, and pretty much grew up with the Interwebs. Those facts alone would explain a lot, if you had the pleasure of knowing me. Maybe one day. When we're all connected via cyberbrains, or when we upload our minds to the cloud, fog, lightning, or whatever atmospheric metaphor will be in vogue at that point in space-time, to form a collective superconsciousness transcending humanity as we know it.

I ∽ The Portuguese Anglophone 🇵🇹🇬🇧

As I imagine you're eager to know, I learned English chiefly by playing video games filled with written dialogue, like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, definitely one of my all-time faves along with Ocarina of Time, during my childhood years of endless, annoying, albeit always coherent chatter. Of course, constantly listening to music with English lyrics and watching lots of films and shows in English also contributed immensely to my learning the language.

II ∽ The Loved Child 🧡👦🏻

Throughout the fundamental period of my character's edification, my artistic, creative, loving parents consistently made sure that I enjoyed quality education, both formal and informal, and that my environment allowed me to try new things, explore, question, discover, and think critically. Wish I could thank you enough, mum and dad!

III ∽ The Nerdy Visual Artist 🎨🤓

And try and explore new things I did. During my teen and early adult years, I taught myself to code entire web sites by hand (with a computer actually) using HTML, CSS, JS and PHP, as well as design the required graphics from scratch in Photoshop, since the visual arts had always been strong with this young Padawan. Also during this time, I worked as a freelance web developer and graphic designer for a few friends and local businesses.

IV ∽ The Martial Artist (or, Revenge of the Nerd) 🥋🎌

By that time, and because I always felt a great deal of attraction for Japanese culture, both past and present, a then-classmate of mine from high school had made me curious about traditional jūjutsu, the martial art he practised, so I decided to give it a try. From the psychology, philosophy, history, culture, reasoning, attitude, conduct, discipline, to the beauty, simplicity, efficiency, and surgical precision of the techniques, it resonated with me straight from the very first class. Following my Sensei's teachings, to whom and for which I am much obliged, several years and a fair share of blood, sweat and tears later, I have earned the sensei title myself, though at the beginning some of my more experienced training partners jokingly bet I would last a short time. They were nice lads, really, and it's a pity that they eventually ended up leaving our martial arts school. As for myself, the plan is to keep training ad æternum in traditional jūjutsu, as it has indeed become an integral part of my life.

V ∽ The Lifelong-learning Teacher 📚👨🏻‍🏫

After graduating from business school, I worked as an information systems manager in the field of education, and as a teacher and a trainer in various ICT-related subjects and courses for 7 years, with students and trainees between 3 and more than 60 years old. Even though I'm passionate about learning and teaching, upon extensive reflection and vastly increasing my financial literacy, I gradually came to the realisation that my worldview had ultimately expanded beyond the stifling status quo of both the formal education system and the prevalent business and organisational models. Nevertheless, I carried on contributing with my expertise as much as I was able to, till it became crystal-clear to me that my ikigai was swiftly shifting.

VI ∽ I Regret Nothing 🚀🌒

Being generally open to change and experimentation, as well as an enthusiast for crypto, the emerging decentralised economy, and the overall betterment of human civilisation through STEAM, I believe innovative platforms like Steem (easy pun intended) are definitely one of the many ways forward, including at a professional level. So, after much pondering, I quit my “secure”, “comfortable”, work-before-personal-life, full-time job as a teacher, trainer, and information systems manager in education, leaving an extraordinary team of crazy coworkers and hundreds of barely-tolerable-to-extremely-likeable students, to strategically leverage and take back control of my two most-valuable assets: my time and my freedom.

VII ∽ Brand a New World 💻🤩

Enter multimedia and digital marketing, two exponentially growing, mutually complementary, fascinating fields of business and technology which have been on my radar for quite some time. And time was exactly what I needed to free up in order to clear my mind and pave the way to a brave new world for my entrepreneurial self, in tandem with a team of brilliantly creative partners, through a mostly cryptocentric, experimental, horizontal, atypical business model conceived by yours truly. Hence the ＲＯＭＥＵ 🅜🅓🅜🅐🔸Multimedia🔸Digital Marketing🔸Atypical personal brand. If you thought that it had something to do with methylenedioxymethamphetamine, I would say that my brain's autonomous production makes hanging out or even collaborating with me yield some comparable effects.

Então, nasci e fui criado em Lisboa, Portugal, Terra, cerca de 13,8 mil milhões de anos após o Big Bang, e praticamente cresci com as Interwebs. Esses factos por si só explicariam muita coisa, se tivessem o prazer de me conhecer. Talvez um dia. Quando estivermos todos ligados via cibercérebros, ou quando carregarmos as nossas mentes para a nuvem, nevoeiro, relâmpago, ou qualquer que seja a metáfora atmosférica em voga nesse ponto do espaço-tempo, para formarmos uma superconsciência colectiva transcendendo a humanidade como a conhecemos.

I ∽ O Anglófono Português 🇵🇹🇬🇧

Como imagino que estejam ansiosos por saber, aprendi inglês principalmente a jogar videojogos repletos de diálogo escrito, como The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, definitivamente um dos meus favoritos de todos os tempos juntamente com o Ocarina of Time, durante os meus anos infantis de tagarelice infinita e irritante, porém sempre coerente. Claro que ouvir constantemente música com letra em inglês e ver montes de filmes e séries em inglês também contribuiu imenso para que aprendesse a língua.

II ∽ A Criança Amada 🧡👦🏻

Ao longo do período basilar da edificação do meu carácter, os meus artísticos, criativos e afectuosos pais certificaram-se consistentemente de que desfrutei de educação de qualidade, tanto formal como informal, e de que o meu ambiente me permitia experimentar coisas novas, explorar, questionar, descobrir, e pensar criticamente. Quem me dera ser capaz de vos agradecer o suficiente, mãe e pai!

III ∽ O Artista Visual Nerd 🎨🤓

E assim fiz: experimentei e explorei coisas novas. Durante a minha adolescência e primeiros anos de adulto, ensinei a mim próprio a escrever código de sites inteiros à mão (com um computador, na realidade) usando HTML, CSS, JS e PHP, bem como a desenhar de raiz o grafismo necessário no Photoshop, dado que as artes visuais sempre foram fortes neste jovem Padawan. Também durante este período, trabalhei como desenvolvedor web e designer gráfico independente para alguns amigos e negócios locais.

IV ∽ O Artista Marcial (ou, A Vingança do Nerd) 🥋🎌

Por essa altura, e porque sempre senti uma grande atracção pela cultura japonesa, tanto passada como presente, um colega meu do secundário deixou-me curioso sobre o jūjutsu tradicional, a arte marcial que ele praticava, pelo que decidi experimentar. Da psicologia, filosofia, história, cultura, raciocínio, atitude, conduta, disciplina, à beleza, simplicidade, eficiência, e precisão cirúrgica das técnicas, identifiquei-me com a arte logo desde a primeira aula. Seguindo os ensinamentos do meu Sensei, a quem e pelo que estou sobejamente grato, vários anos e uma boa quantidade de sangue, suor e lágrimas mais tarde, eu próprio adquiri o título de sensei, embora ao início alguns dos meus parceiros de treino mais experientes tenham apostado, na brincadeira, que eu iria durar pouco. Na realidade eram bons rapazes, e é pena terem eventualmente acabado por deixar a nossa escola de artes marciais. Quanto a mim, o plano é continuar ad æternum a treinar jūjutsu tradicional, pois tornou-se de facto uma parte integrante da minha vida.

V ∽ O Professor Aprendente ao Longa da Vida 📚👨🏻‍🏫

Após licenciar-me numa escola de ciências empresariais, trabalhei como gestor de sistemas de informação na área da educação, e como professor e formador em várias disciplinas e cursos relacionados com TIC durante 7 anos, com alunos e formandos entre 3 e mais de 60 anos de idade. Embora tenha paixão por aprender e ensinar, após uma extensa reflexão e um vasto aumento na minha literacia financeira, apercebi-me gradualmente de que a minha visão do mundo se expandira derradeiramente para lá do statu quo castrador do sistema educativo formal e dos modelos de negócio e organizacionais prevalentes. Ainda assim, prossegui contribuindo com as minhas competências tanto quanto pude, até ter-se tornado claro como água para mim que o meu ikigai estava rapidamente a mudar.

VI ∽ Sem Arrependimentos 🚀🌒

Sendo de um modo geral aberto à mudança e experimentação, bem como um entusiasta de cripto, da economia descentralizada emergente, e da melhoria global da civilização humana através das áreas STEAM, acredito que plataformas inovadoras como a Steem (piada fácil intencional) são definitivamente um dos muitos caminhos em frente, incluindo ao nível profissional. Assim, após bastante ponderação, despedi-me do meu emprego “seguro”, “confortável”, a tempo inteiro, em que o trabalho vem antes da vida pessoal, como professor, formador, e gestor de sistemas de informação para a educação, deixando uma equipa extraordinária de colegas loucos/as e centenas de alunos/as entre o dificilmente tolerável e o extremamente agradável, para, de modo estratégico, alavancar e recuperar o controlo dos meus dois activos mais valiosos: o meu tempo e a minha liberdade.

E aqui entram o marketing digital e o multimédia, duas áreas fascinantes de negócios e tecnologia, em crescimento exponencial, mutuamente complementares, que estão na minha mira há bastante tempo. E tempo era exactamente o que precisava de libertar para clarear a minha mente e preparar o caminho que levasse o meu ser empreendedor a um admirável mundo novo, em conjunto com uma equipa de parceiros/as brilhantemente criativos/as, através de um modelo de negócio maioritariamente criptocêntrico, experimental, horizontal e atípico, concebido aqui pelo próprio.
