Vaporwave, vinyl & viewpoints. Hello from Canada!

I'm Dante, a creator from Canada. I make music and science videos on two different YouTube channels:

Dante Michael

Scientific Genius

Huge thanks to @zekepickleman for introducing me to the HIVE blockchain - I look forward to sharing with you all here!

On my Dante Michael channel, you'll find recordings of rare Japanese records. I buy and sell jazz records from Japan and try to share music that hasn't found its way to the internet. I also make vaporwave under the artist name Fightman (see my first post). Check out one of my music videos featuring old Tim Allen commercials from the 1980s!

Fightman - Trim Allen (Vaporwave Music Video)

I started my science channel about 5 months ago. The subject of my latest video is synchronicity, check it out below. I have a Master's degree in philosophy and a Bachelor's degree in biology and I'm trying to apply what I've learned. All feedback welcome, more green screen antics are in the works!

The Science of Synchronicity (An Overview)

As someone is totally new to crypto blogs/the blockchain, this feels like a grand experiment in social media. The layers of informational accounting can be a lot to process at first, but I'm curious:

  1. I noticed a lot of people still share YouTube links here and on apps like Peakd. Should I be uploading directly to apps like DTube in addition to YouTube? What benefits does this offer over simply sharing a YouTube link on a post like I'm doing here?

  2. Is there a way for me to separate my content in the same way that my YouTube channels are separate? From what I can tell, the HIVE wallet is tied to one account, which means that all my posts are collected together under one name across all apps.

Peace :)

Ah welcome!

At the very least, you will have your creations immutably on the internet on yet another platform. You will find that worth reposting your content here and the network and rewards you build can be whatever bonus you make it.

I would explore some of the hashtags and communities and meet, engage, follow people with good content and hit upvote on replies. Hive musicians support each other and it is a great way to get paid a bit for your content directly by someone hitting Upvote.

Welcome my friend. See you here and at the next Revival Vinyl Society show.

Having your videos in more than one platform protects you from unfortunate things that can happen. Suppose Youtube decides to ban your videos because of a stand you take on a scientific issue, you at least have other sites to audiences to draw from. There are some who prefer not to watch on Youtube because of its politics.

Here are some sites you can post to.

Welcome to HIVE. I do hope you'll will enjoy your time with our community.

YT or something else: Not too familiar with DTube other than that DTube is its own video platform that has integrations with more than just HIVE. The HIVE eco-system video platform is 3speak (https://3speak.tv/), a truly decentralised video platform. Note that when using 3Speak platform to share videos, these videos are stored in a distributed manner. People can download videos, ie you'll not have 100% control over who has the video. 3speak storage backend is modelled after BitTorrent.

More than one video channel: This is possible within the 3Speak app to a certain extent. HIVE is used by 3Speak for the blog part of the video content. Within HIVE no concept of separate channels exists, other than using multiple HIVE accounts (however that is not the same as channels in YT).

The HIVE blog account of 3Speak: https://hive.blog/@threespeak A wealth of information regarding 3Speak can be found in the posts under said blog account/channel.

Welcome to the Hive. There are lots of artists here of various kinds. Vapourwave? Never heard of that before but listening to this track, I love it!

Thanks for the feedback! Vaporwave started back in 2010 when people figured out that slowing down pop songs from the 80s made them sound very dreamy and nostalgic. I like to think of it as relaxing the sound to bring out its richness. The sampling of commercials and other retro clips is meant to enhance the nostalgia, which is often contrived since most vaporwave is created by people who weren't alive in the 80s (myself included).

Isn’t that interesting, the fact you were, as you say born after the 80s more likely to recreate the sounds from that time.

I was born at the start of the 70s and love to recreate the sounds from the 60s!
