Surveillance Technology – Closer to Big Brother

Are you waiting a brand new smartphone containing slick front side display without any hole, notch or dark strips? In other words, a hidden selfie camera? I’m not sure if these are good or bad news for you who are eager about it…

Seven month ago, Chinese companies Xiaomi and Oppo, have teased under display front camera, that would allow complete area of your smartphone reserved for display. Like this:

Well, that was seven months ago. Yesterday, GSM Arena reported, citing Weibo as source that this technology is not ready yet. According to Xiaomi VP Lu Weibing, the technology should not be expected any time soon in a production device. Why do I consider this good news? Even if it is just temporarily good news…

Remember “1984” and its world of omnipresent screens that can watch over its viewers? So far, you had only the technology of visible camera lens on your monitor or TV set (hello Samsung!) that could be remotely operated without users’ knowledge or control – cameras could be allegedly activated even if the device was powered off.

See the whole WikiLeaks Press Conference Thursday 9 March 2017 On CIA/Vault7 if you can spare an hour… or invest it in your own freedom. That press conference was three years ago, when you still could see where the lens is, and you could put a piece of tape over it. With this new technology, you will soon have monitors or TV sets where you won’t know if it has a camera… or where it is… or if there is only one camera… When it comes, it will be another large step towards full realization of Big Brother’s dreams described in “1984”. Are we going to call it ‘Progress’?

Don’t forget Julian Assange!

Don't they have Smart Televisions that have cameras inserted inside the monitor? I'm not saying the entire screen but I've heard that they showed a family watching a sports game. I think it was the NFL. On the show, the hosts showed a video of the family and said that were able to record the video through the smart TV.
