Human Evolution, Homeschooling

What I learned from the video

Humans are primates. Primates have large brains and eyes in front of our head for depth perception. We also have grasping hands and are social creatures.

Australopithecus was our first ancestor that was known to be bipedal. It lived in East Africa. This freed up our hands to carry things and for the tools, and with later human ancestors, the use of fire. Australopithecus lived about 4 million years ago.

About 2.3 million years ago, Homo Habilis appeared. They had larger brains and used and created simple stone tools.

1.9 million years ago Homo Ergaster/Erectus appeared. They were taller and had bigger brains and were able to move to other places in the world. They used fire in basic way. They showed the first sign of technology tinkering and passed on collective learning.

Then the Neanderthals came. They developed complex stone technology using collective learning and other materials.

Anatomically modern Homo Sapiens have been around for 250 thousand years. Humans have expanded their technology all the way into Space through collective learning.

74 000 years ago humans were reduced to a few thousand and our ancestry and can be traced back to this group in Africa.
