UNSCHOOLING LIFE: NATURAL SCIENCE FOR KIDS & MY SON'S FIRST ABSTRACTS

avatar

Guys, do you teach your kids natural sciences and world that surrounds us every day?
My son is 7 now, but it's high time to study the world where we live in. And this life science is not less important than reading or Maths, that's why it's one of our main topics for investigation now.

I was lucky to find a perfect course of Roman Soloviev, a biology teacher at the Center for Pedagogical Excellence in Moscow. He has been working at school for more than 20 years, teaching biology to children from 4 years old to the first year of the institute. He is a Specialist in exciting children's courses, and I've found many of his videos absolutely free!

They last about 3-7 min each, but it's enough for 7-year old kids to listen and remember info. Moreover, he is telling all topics with a very simple and understandable for kids language. Very clear, wuth humor, with simple words and with the help of his assistant - a small fox;)

We try to watch these videos with my son every day. But his courses give ALL main info about the world around, and to remember it all better I proposed my son to create - BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE that will be written by him.

So he watches video and try to write and draw all he has discovered from them.
Abstracts are the best way to remember anything, different kinds of mind-maps, schemes, pictures, lists - they all work fine to make a definite system of knowlwdge in our head.

And my son likes this idea! Look at his first pages;)

He likes to leaf through a book and retell me or his Dad what he has written. He feels like a teacher, and we're his pupils, and we all like this game😆❤️

Hopefully he continues doing that forever XD My kids to this day still come and tell me everything they've been learning about, only now (because they're 18, 16 and 14 this year) some of it is a bit insane and intense and I can't always keep up, but somehow still have to try and report it all because they always forget or just straight up don't want to aaaaargh.

I love his Book of Knowledge, especially the fish drawing, so cute!
