Easter Theme Math Activity for toddlers and preschoolers

avatar

Hey guys,

This is something we did last year, when my little one was two. I didnt do it again this year with my 3 yrs old because this is to easy for him but if your children doesn't really 'master' numbers or colors than this activity is surely FUN and efficient.

It is a COMBO of number activity & color pattern recognition.
It was Easter that time so I changed a bit the decor to be more interesting for him.

Talking about Math and my son's passion and opening towards Numbers, it's always a long talk.
Let's just say, he's a little genius when it comes to math.
Here are some sheets he did just the other day. That's his level right now, at three.
That's his writting LOL.

For us, it's been impressing to be near him and observe his development. He learned by himself everything Math related. I'm not a fan of Math and I wouldn't even think starting so early.
I found other areas to be more important than Mathn like Nature....but every child is different and I always remind me myself this.
I am being judjed (very often) about the fact my son is already writting and making all these math operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. But it's just his mind and his interest in here, not mine.

Moving on to this activity right here with these beautiful and cute little Easter eggs, it was such a nice activity to do!
My son loved the little colored eggs. They have a nice color indeed, don't you think? They are very appealing for the eyes. We've got them from JUMBO, a Greek Brand Company whose main operation is retail sale of toys, baby items, seasonal items, decoration items, etc.

This activity is perfect to work on those Counting and Math skills, color recognition but also patterns.

I started with this 5 Egg Carton. I thought it would be enough, but when I saw how fast my kid did the whole thing (seconds) I tried with the 20 Egg Carton.

You only need Egg carton, white sheets, carioca or crayons, Easter Egg (or something else).
Definetely these eggs could be replaced by something else.

I think that's all to say about this activity!
You can try this with kids on any ages, it depends on every kid.
I really think it's very efficient, very easy to make and you have at home everything you need. Just replace the eggs with anything else! Ten minutes to setup and the little one got some work to do!
I really miss my son being much younger and making all these cute activities!

Thank you for reading!
Wish you a wonderful week everyone!

Saludos.

Combining learning with playing is the best way to teach nit only kids but adults as well. You're a master in this and it amazes me every time I see your posts. Keep it up as it's valuable.

Impressive penmanship for three years old. By the way, I love the colors you used they are so engaging. I think my son will have a lot of fun if I am going to do this activity with him.

But what an excellent activity to teach children. Very good didactic tool to teach about mathematics and / or numbers to the little ones. Greetings

YUP! He does that, from some months ago already. He's so good at Math and it's really just his passion. I don't know if I told you or maybe you've read some of my previous posts/comments somewhere, but he started to write from the age of 1 and 8mo. At 2 he was quite a pro with writting. I mean letters (all of them) and numbers up to 200. He was attracted by numbers from the age of 1. Anyways, I can tell you more if you're interested but as a closure, it's just his pleasure to learn Math. Only him. He's teassing me with MATH LOL cause I don't really like it:D:D BUT HE CAN ONLY THINK ON MATH EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY.....

And about the sling...thank you! I love babywearing!
I loved to carry him and from time to time I do use the carrier. I used it SO much time when he was little, up to 1 year. I didn't have a stroller from the start but I had a sling/wrap.

I loved wearing him!

I am an occupational therapy intern and seeing this post is truly beneficial and it gave me an idea as to what activities I could give to my kids who need help in counting. It's such a creative way to teach math and at the same time it's fun and engaging which increases the child's attention during the activity :)))
