You are viewing a single comment's thread:

You sure?

You mentioned a theoretical involving teams X and Y, insisting that any relation to the "pro-covid" and "anti-covid" narratives has nothing to do with what you said.

I for one, (and it seems that most other responders) have no clue what you meant, if not that. & I consider myself to be intelligent enough to read between the lines.

Not even mad, just trying to make sense of what you're trying to say.

Division existed long ago. It's not exclusive to covid. If there's something confusing you, there's always the '?'

You sure?

Yes.

OK, there's always been division.
However, there have also been right sides (or less wrong, I guess) throughout history as well. So simply the matter of division is not an issue in and of itself.

So if not to point out that there are pro-covid and anti-covid camps, what was the point of your initial message?

Nobody wants to take a moment to understand one another. It's also a media circus. Elements of showmanship due to the common behavioral patterns demonstrated on social media. Everyone wants to be bigger, better, bolder; silence or crush the opposition. 'Win' the end of the world. A spectacle for the ages.

A bit of sarcasm there. Society with its finger pointing, consistently oblivious to the three fingers pointed back at itself.

The sky is falling.

OK, I think I understand your point.

It is also why I don't consider myself "anti-vax", but rather "anti-covid" (so as not to point the finger at anyone). People can get the shot if they so choose, my fear is that due to the circumstances, it is no longer a choice in the purest sense but a "do this or else".

So even though I try to avoid "the sky is falling" mentalities, it truly does feel like there is a cultural war being fought - not with guns and ammo, but social coercion and silencing of opposition. Add to that economic instability, rapid social changes and encroachment on basic human rights... you cannot stay neutral on a moving train.

Joe will likely not be banned from Spotify (and even if he does, dude's a multi-millionaire) - but the ground is already set that those who are not "too big to fail" (like Joe) are more or less doomed to do so - unless they choose to go to fringe networks, where they will live in obscurity. A sort of shadow-ban, if you will.

I wouldn't call myself neutral. Simply no desire to join in and say all the same things, think the things I'm 'supposed' to think, and whatever else. The 'news' and commentary based on news being passed off as news is just showbiz. I don't listen to the messages from either 'side'; prefer to watch the people, the reaction. Get a better feel for what's really going on, that way.

It hasn't been easy to describe. What comes to mind so clearly has been difficult to put into words.

And Joe's just riding a wave. Plenty of people get on that wave. Big or small, the feeling is the same. Takes a strong mind to be able to ride it out. He's good at it. Some people are built for that, most crack. What's interesting is there are several people on the planet who can handle it. Getting there though is damn near impossible. Nobody starts out thinking they'll get there either. It just kind of happens and one learns on the fly.

Woops, didn't see this, sorry.

I guess, I can sympathise with your approach. The problem is that I feel that if I stay quiet, I'm being complacent, in a way.

Well that's the thing. Joe has the privilege, the money and the power (not to mention mental fortitude) to ride this wave. Most people don't. Take a random YT podcast that has 10-20 episodes are a few thousand views. Now that podcaster gets branded a conspiracy theorist, misinformant or whatever. He will likely sink from the pressure

I wouldn't say I'm quiet. It's just confusing for people. Not sure if I'm friend or foe. It's not worth the hassle sometimes.

And you can see people crack here on chain. One large 'negative review' and that's all they can think or talk about for weeks. Self destruct mode. Tunnel vision, seeing red; can't get through to them. And then they're done. Poof.
