STEMng Digest: The first of 2022
Welcome to the brand new year 2022 and the first edition of STEMng digest, a publication where we highlight some of the best stem (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) content published by Nigerian authors on the Hive blockchain.
Perhaps you are reading this weekly publication for the first time and wondering who we are, STEMng is a sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that is dedicated to supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain. If you wish to know more about stemsocial on hive, you can check here
Basically, what we do is to scout the blockchain for stem content created by Nigerians that tick the curation guidelines of stemsocial community and submit such for support (in the form of upvotes) by the stemsocial account.
Each of the authors featured below gets 5% of the total rewards on this post. This has actually been the case for a while.
The following articles are the picks for this week's STEMng digest, in no particular order:
1.@jaydr: MED-HIVE SERIES:SEXUAL HEALTH || SEX ALMOST KILLED HER
Opening our first edition of selection this year is a post by a new entrant to the community. It is a medical post that borders on sex and sexual health. The real-life story-based article talks about how something as basic as having sex could end up taking the life of some people. It is a good read for anyone interested.
2.@bhoa: My worst experience as a doctor
We have got another medical post as our second selection for this week. As a medical doctor, the author talks about one of his worst experiences working in the health sector. It is a story that borders on how diabetes could lead to more complicated cases such as erectile dysfunction. Could be the doctor's worst experience, but an educating piece for every layman.
3.@almostsober: First time seeing a porcupine
Have you seen a porcupine beyond the screen of a TV/PC or the page of books? Well, this user who happens to be making his debutant in our weekly publication just saw one in real life and it was his first time. The experience made him research and write on the behavior and other attributes of the animal.
4.@mengene: Covid Antiviral Pills: Big Pharma Race is On!
Covid19 has been ravaging the world for some time now but hope is on the horizon on the development of antiviral pills to tackle the menace. The author who currently resurfaced after taking a break from writing on Hive wrote about how the drug, if approved, could impact the revenue of vaccine producers and the race that may ensue.
5.@clinton19: What Really Is A Vacuum ?
Our last post for this week talks about the definition of a vacuum. Now, some of you might be wondering what the big deal is about defining a vacuum. A vacuum, as it is known to most of us is just one definition. To those in fields such as general relativity and quantum physics, a vacuum means so much more than a space devoid of air. The post would really enlighten you.
If you are a content creator on Hive and wondering how you can participate in the community, all you need to do would to:
- Write original content or make a video
- Make it as interesting as possible
- Adopt beautiful layout/formatting
- Personalize your writing (it is social blogging, remember)
- Use copyright-free images
- Include references (facts over fiction)
- to increase the likelihood of being discovered, use the tag 'stemng'.
Support our activities
If you love our activities and or what we do as a community, you can throw us some supports. Support stemng/stemsocial activities on the hive blockchain through one (or more) of the following
- Support through delegation to @stemng or @steemstem account or just following its trail on hive.vote.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and recognition its beautiful going through other posts highlighted here as well.
Thanks for this.
It was a pleasure. Feel free to keep the flag flying
Thanks guys, I absolutely enjoy sharing what I’ve learned.
It was unique in a way.
Right?
I was hoping it would be. I’m not very good at creating content yet.
This is really good, glad to see Nigerians doing well for one another. Nice job @stemng
Consistency is what is lacking. Most authors just go on and off depending on the market
I guess i'm one of them :) But mine doesnt have to do with the market though. I am really hoping i get time to actually write more.. Glad to see us doing well :)
Very true, for some it's because of the market and for others, there are other conditions attached.
That's totally fine, BTW. Not castigating anyone for coming back due to price.
Great selection this week... Weldone guys.
Welcome to 2022
Really good posts this week, I must admit.
Thanks for the pick! You continue to do an amazing job curating! 👍

I meant to read that porcupine article, especially. It looks fascinating. Thanks for the summary of Stemng articles, @gentleshaid.

Great selection, as always :)
I didn't know @clinton19 was from the Nigerian community.
Hehe. He is. I got to know them from their profiles or intro posts.
