STEMng Digest: Don't be a Puppet to Politicians

Authored by @gentleshaid

While I am trying my best to be as apolitical as much as possible, I could not help but observe with disdain, how Nigerians have been going about their political stanship. The worse of it are those that are trying to leverage religion to cause division and create confusion among the electorate. One thing is for sure, politics have no religion. Politicians are the same but will use any available divisive tactics to get to power. We need to be wise this time.

Welcome to a new edition of STEMng Digest!

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

  1. @oluwatobiloba: Forgetfulness in Old People, Is it Natural or Caused by a Disease?

Old age comes with different health problems depending on individuals. However, weak memory in the elderly seems to be more common, especially in the Nigerian clime. The author here is asking a question if the weak memory thing is part of the natural degeneration of the body system or disease on its own. If you will like a scientific insight into the phenomenon, read the post, and don't forget to support the author for their efforts.

2.@cyprianj: Medical laboratory workshop Episode 3: (Live view of motile Trichomonas vaginalis trophozoites)

There is no content like a content that cannot be found anywhere else on the web. This is exactly what this author is on to. A scientific workshop in which some of the activities entail microscopically viewing some known parasitic protozoans. The author did not only write in details about the parasite, but shares exclusive microscopic images of the organisms for the education of readers.

3.@eni-ola: Understanding Broken Heart Syndrome

When you get heartbroken, the broken heart you experience may actually have no effects on your heart. The broken heart syndrome is health condition characterized by inadequate pumping of the heart due to the swelling of one of the ventricles. What causes it, how is it diagnosed, and how can it be treated? The post tells us more.

4.@ebingo: Schizophrenia Social Stigma and You
Here is a medical post from one of our medical doctors. This time, the user discussed schizophrenia in a rather simplified way. I got to know that there are positive and negative symptoms for this health condition. What are these symptoms and how are they handled? You can read the post more to understand the subject.

5.@clinton19: A Brief And Untold History Of Gravitational Waves

The last, but definitely not the least, for this week's digest is a post from a physicist. It borders around the history of gravitational waves. The author has been writing about gravity for a while and this particular post adds to his collection. If you care about the untold history of gravitational waves, you will definitely want to read this post.

And that ends our selections for this week. Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.

If you are a content creator on Hive and wondering how you can participate in the community, all you need to do would to:

  • Write original content or videos
  • Make it as interesting as possible
  • Adopt beautiful layout/formatting
  • Personalize your writing (it is social blogging, remember)
  • Use copyright-free images
  • Include references (facts over fiction)
  • to increase the likelihood of being discovered, use the tag 'stemng'.
