Drone can also be called Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). It is generally described as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle that is guided remotely. Drones are used for different purposes and helpful in many areas. Areas of application of drone include

  • Security
  • Inspections
  • Surveillance
  • Science and Research
  • Aerial Photography and Video
  • Mapping and,
  • Unmanned Cargo System.

In addition to the above mentioned applications, drones are also used in engineering, marketing, aviation, maritime, real estate, insurance, construction & pre-construction work, utilities, meteorology, education and many more. Drones are applied to other industries/fields not mentioned above, due to its light weight and maneuverability.

Drones are generally acceptable all over the world and are used for various purposes depending on individual/agencies. Some people even buy drone to fly around and take pictures since it doesn't require any driver's license. Some involve in drone racing which encourages companies producing them to produce faster and agile drones which beats out the competition.

HOW DO DRONES WORK?

To understand how drones work, there is need to know the constituting components. A typical drone has a waterproof motor frame, motors, propellers, flight & motor controllers, transmitter & receiver, and battery(or any other source of energy). Other equipment like cameras, GPS guided missiles, navigation systems, sensors, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and various other drone software & hardware can also be added to the drone depending on the purpose of buying it.

In order to reduce weight and increase maneuverability, drones are made of light materials. Drones vary in shapes, sizes and functions. Ranging from commercial drones to mapping drones and then to military drones, the flight capacity as well as the control distance increases.

THE FUTURE OF DRONES

Have you ever taken your time to sit and think about how drone has grown so fast within a short period of time? Currently, we have good drones that work efficiently.
It shouldn't come to us as a shock when we see faster and more efficient drones in some years to come. It is also believed that lighter drones made of lighter but stronger materials will be built as each company will strive to give the best in their capacity.

Companies like Amazon are already working on how to make use of drone for delivering goods ordered online. Drone will be used to deliver good(s) to the specified address while the owner waits at his/her doorstep to receive the goods. This will make delivery occur within minutes compared to days that it takes before. This might also lead to increased rate of unemployment as less staff will be needed in such companies.

CONCLUSION

Drone is a precious gift of technology given to us. As time goes on, we will see unimaginable features appearing in drones as it is upgraded to meet the needs of the users.

Enforcing of low-cost detector system is a role that should be played by the government. This detector will be used to spot malevolent drones or else the trespassers will misuse this priceless technology.
