Let's Discuss About Asthma
Asthma is a common respiratory condition that can affect anyone, but it's more prevalent in people of all ages. Children, adults, and even dogs can develop the disease. The main symptom of asthma is wheezing. This means that the airways in your lungs are abnormally narrow and cause them to produce excessive amounts of air so that you can breathe. Even though many other factors play a role in causing asthma as well, there are several significant things about asthma that everyone should know about.
Asthma is a type of breathing disorder characterized by abnormal coughing or shortness of breath characterized by coughing or shortness of breath . It’s one of the most common diseases among humans, affecting around 10% of the population at some point in their lives. In this article I have prepared today, I will be discussing what asthma is, its different types, how to recognize symptoms, and how to manage it effectively.
What is asthma?
As I mentioned above, asthma is a type of breathing disorder characterized by abnormal coughing or shortness of breath. It’s one of the most common diseases among humans, affecting around 10% of the population at some point in their lives. The main symptom of asthma is wheezing. This means that the airways in your lungs are abnormally narrow and cause them to produce excessive amounts of air so that you can breathe.
The most common triggers of asthma are dust mites and other allergens, smoke, and stress. Other things that can cause wheezing and/or shortness of breath include heart conditions, infections, emphysema, and other pulmonary diseases. Kids who have asthma also frequently get allergies, though these are less common in children under 5 years old.
People with asthma are at a higher risk of developing other diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and lung cancer. This is why it’s important to get a baseline measure of your health.
If you have any of the following, you’re likely to develop asthma:
Under 5 years old
Smoker
Have heart disease or high blood pressure
Are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant
Are over 40 years old
Have diabetes
Are overweight or have a bad diet
How to Recognize Asthma Symptoms
The first step in recognizing that you have asthma is to notice the symptoms.
The most common are:
Shortness of breath or wheezing
Red eyes or cilia on the back of the eyelids
Coughing up phlegm
All of these symptoms along with a high sensitivity index for allergies
Allergy to certain foods, substances, or medications
Allergy to plants or trees
Allergy to animals
Sinus or breathing problems like runny nose, sputum, or chest pain
Increasing symptoms of shortness of breath or wheezing in other areas of your body
How to Manage Asthma
If you notice the above symptoms, you should call your doctor immediately. The most important thing you can do is get your child's Asthma symptoms under control.
It's very important to get ready for any kind of asthma attack.
You can do this by:
Wearing a face mask when you're in a room where you have a history of allergies
Using an air humidifier in a bedroom or on the patio
Keeping your child's bedroom at a low humidity level
Avoiding foods with a high content of moisture like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and too much meat
Releasing a pet with a high moisture content like a guinea pig or pig
Avoiding triggers such as smoking, eating too many grains, and using alcohol
As I have discussed, asthma is a common condition that anyone can experience. It's more common in kids and adults, but still affects dogs and even children who have no signs of illness.
