Hello friends of this super community full of people with a lot of interest in the scientific field, today I have a post "sweet" at first glance we see a strawberry, we know that it is an edible fruit in almost its entirety, but this delicious fruit has a very interesting that deserve to be seen under the magnifying glass of the microscope because there are details that escape our sight! the strawberry belong to the genre (fragaria), make yourself comfortable and enjoy my post!👨‍🏫👨‍🎓

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STRAWBERRY🍓👨‍🏫/CARACTERISTICAS DE LA FRESA🤔🧠

This fruit is a herbaceous that during the whole year its plant can conserve its leaves although it is in a very cold ecosystem these plants are grouped in the (evergreen) its stem is basically a rhizome this is a stem that grows aerially, this The plant is hermaphroditic or unisexual, summarizing my little experiment, what I will do is make some cuts of the strawberry to see its main parts, as well as take a tissue to the microscope to see the plant cells, I will very carefully extract an achene to make a cut longitudinal and see the external and internal parts!🤯😬

Here we can see the internal structure of the strawberry and from now on we could explain what each part consists of, the sepals look like normal leaves of a plant but in reality they have a more specific and protective function, the sepals would be accessories of the plant. small "leaves" serve as protection for flowers when they are in their early stages of development help keep important organs protected! remember that the fruit is the mature flower after being fertilized! Connected to the sepals is also the peduncle, simply my strawberry no longer has it but it is like seeing a "stem" it connects the fruit with the stem of the plant!🤔😮

We continue with the thalamus that would be the (axial) part of a flower here we find several pieces together, in botany, the thalamus is also known as receptacula and has different shapes, in the case of the strawberry it is bulky, now we are going to explain the achene Which could be summarized as a dried fruit of the flower ovary, the carpels would be like the female organ that can contain several or a single ovule, in this case the strawberry only has one ovule, therefore it is monocarpelar!🌼🌷

Continuing with the explanation of the achenes in botany, it is a dry fruit, which could be said that it is not attached to the pericarp but an achene to be classified in this way the fruit must only have one ovary, to summarize then we say that the strawberry is the result of the bulging receptacle and that is formed by achenes and this is the part that can be consumed!😮😮

Thanks to the receptacle a fruit can acquire different characteristics such as colors, consistencies and aromas! an achene can measure an average of one millimeter in length, the achene is inserted in small "holes" that bear the name of crypts, although in strawberries we see yellow achenes can present various colors such as red, brown or green! The question is how many achenes can a fruit have? a strawberry like this that I have here between 150-200 but we can find others with more than 400 nuts!🤔😮

img_20211228_125500.jpg

This photo of an achene is very beautiful, we start with the pericarp that would be the outer layer that covers the seed, we are basically under the presence of the ovary that has been fertilized here the fruit has 3 classifications for the pericarp depending on the fruit we can find a mesocarp and epicarp! the mesocarp is the pulp that we eat!😮😮

img_20211228_125656.jpg

Here we see the dried fruit or achene with a longitudinal cut, we can clearly see the 3 parts of the seed starting with the pericarp which is the outermost layer, but here we mention a new botanical term the cotyledon? From here the first leaf in the plant would come out, let's say they are leaves that only develop in the embryo, many of the times they grow in order to store energy reserves!😮😮

img_20211228_125709.jpg

Finally, the testa is the outermost episperm layer, its origin is due to the formation of the ovule, it has a very important function since it protects the internal part of the seed from external agents that can damage the seed, such is the case water, temperature, parasitic agents! here we could find a small hole called a micropyle.😶😶

PLANT CELL🍓👨‍🏫/CELULA VEGETALES🤔🧠

img_20211228_124551.jpg

Here we can see a cut where we clearly appreciate the plant cells, this is the internal part of the strawberry bone what we eat, as we can see these cells are not common and normal, they are called parenchyma cells and what they do is reserve large quantities of liquids, in general it is water but with a mixture of sugars!😮😮

img_20211228_124827.jpg

Finally, to highlight these swollen cells is that they are found in a proportion of 80% in the plant, not only does it fulfill a reserve roll, it can also be photosynthetic, or it helps to repair fractures in the plant! the cells have different morphologies depending on their position in the plant, as they also have a slightly thickened outer layer,😲😲
