Today I made a small discovery of a microorganism with a size of approximately 400-750µm, very small and easily unnoticed with the human eye, but when we use a microscope we can see this beautiful and amazing rotiferous in action, you will be surprised by the way it feeds. small animal that we can find in the freshwater zooplakton, today's post is an experiment where we will see the species Mniobia russeola in the filtration process and we will explain a little the characteristics of rotifers! so make yourself comfortable and enjoy my post!🧠🔬

THE FASCINATING ROTIFEROS🧠‍🔬/LOS FASCINANTES ROTIFEROS👀👩‍🎓🕵️‍♂️

Rotifers are an abundant class of animals that are very predominant in fresh waters, and it is that only 3% of species that live in salt water have been discovered, approximately more than 2000 species of rotifers have been discovered on our planet very Common in bodies of water (brackish and salted), these animals are one of the most photographed by microbiologists since their transparency makes them fascinating under the microscope! These animals are considered very small roundworms. Their main characteristic is that they have a ciliated "crown" on the front end!🤯👀

Although they seem simple animals, in reality they are more complex than we think immediately of the vibratory crown they have a functional stomach chewing in biology this stomach is known: mastax, as an excretory system rotifers present some nephridia, these animals present their body divided into 3 sections, the first one cephalic, then thoracic and finally asked! There is a curious fact about these animals and that is that they are made up of a certain number of cells, for example when they are young they present 1000, as the animal grows no more cells are added, I always learn something new when I study microorganisms! do you know how long they live in half a week!😮😲🤯

The rotifers feed in a very spectacular way, they filter the water and thus suck the small microorganisms, we can say that they are cosmopolitan since we can find them in many bodies of water, from lakes, to deep waters, they can grow among the moss of plants such is the case these were captured between mosses and roots! The body of a rotifer is made up of groups of cells that are not separated from each other! a rotiferous never changes from "exoskeleton"😮😮

The rotifers have a "locomotive" structure for the suction movement to occur. The rotifers have cilia that are extensions of the "epidermis" of the animal. This structure is known as the "buccal field". The rotating organ produces a whirlpool in the water that attracts the liquid into the chewing stomach, but can also be used for movement.🌊🌊

img_20211226_171639.jpg

The digestive system of rotifers is made up of a mouth opening, a ciliated pharynx, mastax, esophagus, stomach, intestine, cloaca and anus! The mastax is a structure that performs a function of pressing and chewing, this structure has small muscles that allow it to be functional! the mastax also has some salivary glands! its biology is a mystery since we only know 10% of the males of all species because they have a very short life expectancy!⛔🛑

The body and design of the animals are variable depending on the species, in times of extreme conditions such as hot or cold! Rotiferous eggs go through a process of "hibernation" the eggs are protected by a thick layer that gives them resistance! when conditions are again favorable then the eggs can be hatched! there are two species of rotifers that are common in shallow water bodies that can share space since one eats another species (Asplachna)💥💥

SPECIES IDENTIFICATION🧠‍🔬/IDENTIFICACION DE ESPECIE👀👩‍🎓🕵️‍♂️

As I always do to identify a species, I use my microbiology reference! It is a digital book called (atlas of microorganisms), I also made some comparisons with photos on the website of the species (Mniobia, callidina) so I came to the conclusion that this was the species I was observing!😮😮

This species has a fairly short foot that it uses as locomotion and a support! the foot does not have fingers, it is a species that lacks "eyes" its coloration under an electron microscope is "reddish", the cuticle has some protrusions! very common in moss and small liquines! It should be noted that I got these specimens both in moss and plant roots!🧫🔬🧬

DNA is an organization to foster and DENSIFY NATURE-APPRECIATION which aims to establish REPORTS OF BIODIVERSITY DATA that is contributed by all of us Hiveans and subsequently cataloged.

Therefore DNA searches for HIGH-QUALITY posts that aim to DESCRIBE and determine the BIODIVERSITY AROUND YOU with added EXPLANATIONS and INFORMATION. For these informative posts they offer a CURATION SERVICE using the @dna.org account. It is also a CURATION TRAIL. Just add the #dna TAG if you think that any of your posts is what they are looking for.
