Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), A Medical Condition in the Male Gender.

When a woman who is sexually active is found urinating frequently, we are quick to assume that she may be pregnant but what if we find a man frequently using the toilet, what comes to mind in a situation like that? When a man cannot comfortably sit throughout a meeting or a short flight without using the bathroom over and over again, then there is a sign to watch out for there.

As men advance in age, there is a possibility of experiencing one of these prostate diseases: Non-cancerous enlargement (BPH), prostate cancer, and inflammation (prostatitis). Of these three prostrate diseases, the most common one is the Non-cancerous enlargement scientifically known as, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

The prostate is an important and delicate organ in a man, usually small and muscular in nature, this organ is a part of the male reproductive system. The urethra is surrounded by the prostate glands, the movement of Urine and Semen is made possible through the prostate gland.
Prostate gland enlargement is a common problem amongst men since it comes with advancement in age, the enlargement of the prostate however becomes a big problem when there is an interference with the passage of urine and semen out of the body.

There are quick ways for a man to realize the presence of Prostate Enlargement and of course seek medical help instantly.

• Pain and difficulty during urination
• Discovered blood in the urine.
• Consistent urge to urinate.
• Difficulty before urination begins.
• The bladder is usually never emptied while urinating.
• Reduced performance during sexual intercourse.

If the early signs of prostate enlargement are ignored, it could lead to other medical complications like:
• Kidney Damage.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).
• Bladder damage
• Total inability to urinate.
• Kidney damage.

The good thing about BPH is the fact that it could be controlled and eventually treated by following changes in natural lifestyle patterns.

• Patients should urinate once there is an urge to do so.

• When BPH is suspected, over-the-counter medications should be avoided, safe and legal medical treatment should be sought.

• Regular exercise will help save the situation.

• Patients need to keep their bodies warm constantly.

• Stress isn’t good for people who have BPH and must be avoided at every possible cost.

• Alcohol and caffeine should be avoided as much as possible also.

The consistency of these symptoms even after the natural remedies have been put into practice could make the doctors recommend certain helpful medications like antibiotics, alpha-1 blockers, these medications would help reduce the hormones secreted by the prostate glands.

When medications that are used to reduce hormonal levels in patients are described, it helps to reduce the size of the prostate as well as improve the flow of urine, such medications are however known to produce a decreased sex drive in patients as well as an increased rate of impotence. Antibiotics on the other hand will help reduce inflammation produced by the bacteria only.

An advanced case for treatment of BPH is surgery, surgery is usually the most sought-after option when medications begin to appear ineffective. Some of the surgical treatments may be simple procedures that could be carried out in your doctor’s office, others may be complicated and difficult. Surgical treatments also come with some side effects and some of them are Impotence, surgical bleeding, infection from surgical sites, incontinence, and even infertility.

However, the risk of some of these complications can be reduced by following certain steps:

• Listen to everything and follow every instruction from the doctors.

• Learn to consume meals that have a better amount of nutrients, ensure that you also improve on your movement activity.

• Ensuring a regular visit to the hospital until recovery is complete.

Don’t get scared, BPH Isn’t Prostate Cancer

Even if BPH affects the prostate gland like prostate cancer, while prostate cancer can spread to other parts of the body, benign prostatic hyperplasia cannot spread to other parts of the body.
Frequent urination might not be a clear sign of cancer but it is one of the signs to watch out for, there are more signs however to watch out for as far as prostate cancer is concerned.

• The experience of painful ejaculation is also a sign of
prostate cancer.

• Experiencing difficulty before having an erection.

• The experience of pain in the hips, pelvis, thigs and even lower
back region.

• Pain or pressure felt in the rectum.

• Burning or painful ejaculation.

Just like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), there has been no scientifically proven reason for prostate cancer, certain factors like being obese, smoking have been known to aggravate the likelihood of prostate cancer.
The best way to avoid complications from these health conditions is to identify the signs as quickly as possible, then visit a doctor for treatment.
