La imágenes radiograficas son de gran ayuda para facilitar el diagnóstico, puesto que no sólo vista con el ojo radiográfico sino también con los rayos X ya que nos permite observar más allá de lo que no podemos evidenciar en consulta odontológica, hoy les presento la radiografía panorámica de mi paciente femenina de 72 años de edad sistémicamente comprometida, quien le han tomado una radiografía panorámica sin tome donde se confunden las estructuras dentales, puesto que la paciente tiene desgaste exagerado en sus dientes anteriores superiores d inferiores.

Today I present the panoramic x-ray of my 72 year old female patient who is systemically compromised, who has had a panoramic x-ray taken without taking one where the dental structures are confused, since the patient has exaggerated wear in her upper and lower anterior teeth.
Les explicaré que para tomar una radiografía panorámica y que esta se vea complentamente el paciente debe morder un tope, que es una pequeña lámina que permite captar ambas arcadas dentarias superiores e inferiores, toda radiografía para el estudio universitario debe ser captada con tope puesto que necesitamos por completo apreciar cada una de las estructuras dentarias y las distintas partes que puede tener un diente esmalte, dentina y pulpa.

Cuando se toma una panorámica, sin tope las estructuras dentarias se ven distorsionadas, en este caso ocurrió esto con mi paciente, el nivel que tiene de desgaste en sus dientes anterosuperiores y anteroinferiores es tanto, que no se permite determinar el examen radiográfico, se confunden los dientes superiores con los inferiores puesto que los dientes superiores de anteponen con los inferiores, entonces nos confunde por completo y no podemos expresar el examen radiográfico adecuadamente.
When a panoramic view is taken, without a stop the dental structures are distorted, in this case this happened with my patient, the level of wear in her anterosuperior and anteroinferior teeth is so great that the radiographic examination cannot be determined, the upper teeth are confused with the lower teeth as the upper teeth overlap with the lower teeth, so we are completely confused and we cannot express the radiographic examination adequately.
Todo radiologo debe conocer adecuadamente las técnicas radiograficas para solventar a cada paciente ya que todos tienen distintas mordidas, y si el paciente no alcanza el tope, se debe buscar otras estrategias que nos permitan obtener la radiografía, puesto que cada uno de los pacientes son nuestras prioridades y debemos establecer para ellos el diagnóstico para dar el mejor plan de tratamiento, pero sino tenemos una buena radiografía como podemos determinar que tratamiento necesita el paciente.
Every radiologist must know the proper radiographic techniques to solve each patient as they all have different bites, and if the patient does not reach the top, we must look for other strategies that allow us to obtain the x-ray, since each patient is our priority and we must establish the diagnosis for them to give the best treatment plan, but if we do not have a good x-ray how can we determine what treatment the patient needs.
Por último si tenemos una radiografía mal tomada, no ayudaremos al paciente ya que el tratamiento no será el más certero para el, se debe dar el mejor diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento, quizás en vez de solucionar su problema vamos a empeorar, por ello es importante crear conciencia que las radiografías panorámicas deben estar bien tomadas.
Finally, if we have a badly taken x-ray, we will not help the patient as the treatment will not be the most accurate for them, the best diagnosis and treatment plan must be given, perhaps instead of solving their problem we will make it worse, therefore it is important to create awareness that panoramic x-rays must be well taken.
