Teleportation: Does it exist? A reaction to Acidyo's tweet

avatar

It's quite a long time I relate with friends here, just like my other friends on other social media apps. In fact, a lot of notifications are waiting for my right click both here and other social apps and that reminds me of one of my notifications on twitter some weeks ago and that is @acidyo tweet

If someone had told me we'd discover teleportation in 2021 and let people use it for free a few years ago I would've thought you're crazy!

In response to his tweet on twitter here, many lamented that they heard the word 'Teleportation' for the first time and were curious to know further by asking him to expanciate more while some argued about the real existence of 'Teleportation' among others.

What is Teleportation

The word Teleportation can be broken down into two (2): Tele which means remote and Portation from portare which also means to carry, thereby, Teleportation is a means by which an object, building, vehicle, planet, solar system or matter from anywhere is carried completely from one location to a distant location without physically traversing the distance between them.

However, many people used both Teleportation and Beaming interchangeably, but the difference between the two words is not far fetched. While Teleportation involves the complete transfer without decomposing the object or matter, 'Beaming' involves the transfer of the matter or object by first decompose the matter into smaller components which could be carried in form of beam to a far location, thus, this carried beams (components) will later be assembled and converted back to its whole body component(matter) once it reaches the specified destination, just like before it was decomposed.

Teleportation in Religion

Large percentage of people who are familiar with the word teleportation got the clue from film, video game, television, science fiction, spiritual teleportation, e.t.c. and not in real life scenarios. Those who are deeply inclined towards religious belief might have heard or read it in their books before, as a miracle performed by some of the prophets.

A typical example of teleportation in Islam is the journey of prophet Muhammad from masjid aqsa situated in the Old City of Jerusalem to heaven, it is called 'The Israʾ and Miʿraj' thus, this signifies both a spiritual and physical journey to the heaven. This journey has been referred to as one of the unprecedented sign of the noble prophet according to the Islamic faith. Likewise, in Christian faith: The teleportation of Elijah from one place to another place severally when Ahab and Jezebel tried to kill him for good three years may also be referred to as teleportation. In John chapter 6:16–21, Jesus Christ also performed something similar that could be called teleportation, he was rapidly move to either side of the shore after he got into the boat.

Teleportation in Science

Teleportation is a wide topic that has several definitions and usage in different areas of application. For instance: in Science fiction, it is defined as the bodiless transfer of both animate and inanimate objects covering certain distance in a space and within nanosecond through the help of an advanced technological tools (futuristic concepts). No doubt, teleportation in science fiction is known as sf-Teleportation. A typical example can be found in some of the most popular TV series such as Star Trek, Sci-Fi literature classics as Algis
Budry’s Rogue Moon in Gold Medal Books, in 1960, George Langelaan’s The Fly in Playboy Magazine, June 1957, an Astounding Science Fiction in 1954 by A. E. van Vogt’s World of Null-A, and in popular horror films such as The Fly in 1958, The Fly a 1986 remake, Return of the Fly in 1959, Curse of the Fly in 1965, and The Fly II in 1989.

In psychic, Teleportation can be referred to as the transfer of both animate (person) or inanimate object using psychic means. This is usually called p-Teleportation.

Teleportation in quantum entanglement: This is usually called q-Teleportation. It is the transfer of the smallest or basic unit of quantum state called qubits across space to another system such as photons, ions, atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, etc.

Teleportation by exotic: This is called e-Teleportation. It is the transfer of both animate and inanimate object via parallel dimension or extra space dimension.

Teleportation via engineering the vacuum or spacetime metric: This is called vm-Teleportation. It is the transfer of animate or inanimate objects via space. This is done through tampering the attribute of the spacetime vacuum, or through changing the spacetime metric (geometry).

Summary

In reality, teleportation technology where our space explorers can easily use to transport themselves along with their equipment from an orbiting spacecraft to a specified remote space, a teleport technology where the United state army can easily use to pivot themselves to a needed remote place in order to render a first hand help to combat a battle without the need to physically traverse the physical distance between them seems not to be in existence except in science fiction (sf-Teleportation) and Quantum-Teleportation (q-Teleportation), which has progressed from mere theoretical to reality and among some other areas and perhaps I may not be as informed as you , Please feel free to relate and educate us further via the comment section below.

Thanks for coming around and I will be glad to read your interaction and beautiful comment.

There are reports that some scientist have found a way to teleport a particle in a quantum state. I think we are yet to have it in the next 10 years. Maybe in the future. !discovery 25

Quantum teleportation is a known algorithm and does in fact work in practice. However, the state of the particle is transferred, not the particle itself. Calling it teleportation is a bit of a misnomer.

Oh! I misread and misunderstand it. So it was the state of the particle that is transferred not the particle itself. In that case, I agree that it is a misnomer. !PIZZA

The topic is very interesting and your poat too.
Technology is changing so fast and todays imagination is tomorrow's reality.
And those imagination are the back bone of the invention.
Thanks for sharing...

Hello, @noble-noah interesting delivery about Teleportation. As you rightly point out in different planes it has been talked about and even in fiction, many times they materialize it. Issues that I am sure are still being worked on. It seems far-fetched, but science and technology shake us up from time to time. Thank you.
