Disease monitoring of corn plants

avatar

We visited a corn field with an agronomist to diagnose corn plant diseases. The owner of the corn field took us to the field and we went down to the crop field to observe it. It was a river bed and the soil is very fertile as the alluvium accumulates here during the monsoon season. So the harvest here is good. But the diseases and insects damage the crops and now it is winter so the water in the river has reduced. We went down into the field and saw some diseased corn plants.

The agronomist showed me some diseased corn and dead leaf plants. The leaves have died and turned brown. As evident in the image above. He said it was due to fungal attack. Since fungicides have been applied here in the past, diseased trees are less common. Sulfur has been used as a fungicide and after a few days another fungicide has to be used again.

The agronomist pointed to the corn plant in the picture above and said it was a genetic problem or disease. The leaves of the corn plant are curled, the upper part is turning white. The tree is awkward. It should be picked up and thrown away from the field.

He found many lesions on the leaves, insects eating the corn leaves and leaking

He found the insect among the corn plants. He knew which part of the plant the insect lives on. So he doesn't need much time to find the insect. This is the armyworm insect that bores the leaves of corn. Apart from this some other insects can attack. It can attack and destroy corn tips. May stop crop growth. Apart from this, other insects causes serious damage to crops.

The brand name of this insecticide is Nill . It contains Emamectin benzoate 50 grams per kg. Emamectin benzoate is a new insecticide. An invention of Syngenta Crop Protection. It shows strong reaction against insects. So it works very well against insects and people have started using it on a large scale. It is expected to protect crops by working against other insects including armyworm.

The brand name of this pesticide is Nitro, it contains a mixture of Chlorpyrifos and Cypermethrin. Both chemicals are very powerful against insects. Chlorpyrifos is used in crop fields as well as animals and other needs. It can also kill worms very easily. But it can be harmful to health. So one should be very careful while applying it. Since it is toxic to animals, fish ponds close to fields can be targeted to avoid killing the fish in the pond.

Another component of Nitro is Cypermethrin. It is a widely popular insecticide worldwide. You can find it at the store near you. It is a neurotoxin that acts rapidly against insects. It can cause some harm to human health, allergic reaction, muscle weakness, nausea.

These two insecticides and insecticides together act powerfully against many species of insects, so expect good results with this application. We have to [use pesticides] to avoid crop damage. In the modern world, it is imperative to use modern technologies to prevent food shortages. If the harvest is high, the food shortage will be reduced to some extent.

We have been getting good results lately using fungicides. Sulfur is used in this crop which is a fungicide. Now fungicides cannot be used in this land, we have to wait for some time. Another fungicide should be applied after a few days to prevent fungal attack. Leaf dieback due to fungus may not stop completely but it will be much less if we can use the right fungicides. Good technology, good harvest. A good harvest means a smile on the farmer's face.
