Greetings from this part of the world, my name is Mistural, and I'd like to welcome you all to my blog.

Today I'll talk about Palm Kernel Oil, its origins, health benefits, and other uses.

Many people confuse palm kernel oil with palm oil, but the two are completely different. Palm kernel oil is an edible oil extracted from the palm tree's kernel, whereas Palm oil is an edible oil extracted from the palm fruit's pulp or the flesh.

ORIGIN OF PALM KERNEL

When it comes to natural resources, the oil palm tree is possibly the richest tree on the planet.

Elaeis guineensis, the oil palm tree, evolved in West Africa's tropical rainforest but swiftly migrated to Asia and America. The palm fruit and leaves are the tree's most economically valuable parts (elements). The oil palm tree is endowed with numerous valuable resources, one of which being palm kernel oil. Yeah, the palm kernel(fruit from the oil palm tree) is one of the resource of this valuable tree. The kernel oil varies from palm oil in that it is derived from the fruit's kernel via cold pressing, whereas palm oil is extracted from the fleshy section of the fruit.

This is a very interesting blog! I knew about palm oil of course (someone who doesn't may be in a state of constant hibernation for years), but I had never heard anything about palm kernel oil. I am wondering whether it is used at all in common products usually containing palm oil. I may check this out the next time I will visit a supermarket (I am however afraid to know the answer in advance).

Cheers!

(Edited)

but I had never heard anything about palm kernel oil

It's extracted from the palm kernel it self (inner part), unlike the palm oil which is extracted from the palm kernel flesh(outer part)... The extraction process of palm oil is quite complex, it takes time unlike palm kernel oil which is quite easy as the oil is used to cook a special meal (Eastern part of Nigeria)

There are numerous difference between them which includes the smell and the color even the taste is a bit different. I'll make a post explaining how palm kernel oil is extracted from palm kernel, I'll explain the difference showing the color, the uses of both oil and some physical difference both oil.

I'll try and make another post showing the step by step process of a delicious soup with the palm kernel oil 😃.

I'll definitely tag you so you won't miss the post.

this is something I didn't know at all

That's one of the advantage of Hive, we learn new things, new culture, new lifestyle and also earn at the same time..

I'll be going to the local market to get the palm kernel fruit, then in the evening I'll extract the oil from the palm kernel (showing the process and steps) and make the local Banga soup with the palm kernel oil (Eastern part of Nigeria dish).

Thank you so much for your support 🥰
