Hi hivers! I bring you yet another interesting article guys! Be sure to read through and enjoy!

So we live in a mighty big universe where it seems infinitely endless. But of recent, I came across an article that discussed the possibility of the existence of other universes. So instead of having the concept of just a universe as we currently understand and believe, the article talked about a “MULTIVERSE!”. This surely captured my attention and being my inquisitive self, I decided to check it out. I was absolutely wowed with my findings. My passion for writing and sharing whatever I learn and find amazing with others instinctively kicked in. So here I am with an article to discuss the possibility of the existence of the Multiverse! Blushes**

The concept of having the Multiverse seems impossible. However, I have had some time to sit back and imagine things (I hope you don’t find it crazy..lol!) But we can all give it a try when we are less busy also. Try to imagine a scenario where we actually: go beyond our solar system, take our imagination further and go beyond the Milky Way. If we can even imagine as far as going beyond other galaxies and our not so infinite Universe, then we can actually get the idea of a Multiverse where our Universe is not alone. Funny enough, one could even imagine that new Universes are being born all the time even as you are reading this very article! Interestingly, if we can take our imagination a notch further, we could actually pay a visit to these other Universes, it would be no surprise if we find that some of them have basic properties of nature that are distinctly foreign such that Matter as we understand it cannot exist.

Some of these other Universes may actually have stars, galaxies or even planets that may actually look similar to the ones in our Milky Way only with some interesting differences. With this in mind, then I feel it is very possible that there could be some other place in the multiverse, where we could have someone that looks like you and I, or animals and plants that look similar to those around us! Quite an imagination, right? Believe me you, science grows from imagination to become facts so I do not doubt this one bit!

Call it science, call it theology, call it philosophy, call it a part of Meta-physics or anything you want. The point here is to actually follow the logic! Even though the concept of a Multiverse may seem very strange, a growing number of scientist actually agree that the concept may be the final step in a long line of radical revisions to our established picture of the cosmos!

A Food For Thought For Us All: Many years ago, we all thought the Earth was at the center of the Universe and other planetary bodies revolved round it. But then, thanks to the likes of Galileo and Copernicus, we got a better understanding that the Sun is actually at the centre of the solar sytem. Furthermore, we got to understand that the solar system is actually a very small place in the mightily huge galaxy which also is only one out of the hundreds of millions of galaxies that exist in an extremely gigantic Universe! For sure, all of these sounded outrageously absurd and unbelievable when the ideas were birthed back then, but these days, we hardly question them. I believe this will apply for the idea of a Multiverse also in the nearest future! Nothing is impossible guys! (BTW, some scientists believe the concept of a multiverse is actually a dead end in physics, but I guess that’s the beauty of life and science, since we are all entitled to our opinions!)

Several discoveries actually suggest that the Multiverse may exist. The very first discovery is linked to the widely accepted theory of the Origin of Our Universe; “THE BIG BANG!” which says our Universe began some 14 billion years ago from an extremely violent explosion! The theory explained that over billions of years, the Universe cooled and stars, planets and galaxies were formed. Due to the explosion, the Universe continues to expand till this very second.

Taking a rewind on this theory, we get to see that it tells us nothing about what set the big bang in motion in the first place! We don’t know why it banged, or what happened before the bang! Which leaves us with certain questions like; What actually fueled the bang, What is the force behind it all? I am sure I am not the only one who has had such questions in mind winks**

In a bid to find answers to these question above, scientists have to actually consider the fact that the Multiverse exists!

Back then in the eighties, Alan Guth (now a MIT Professor) and a friend of his were working on an Idea of how particles might have formed in the early universe. However as they proceeded with their findings, they got tangled in investigating the expansion of the universe in the first moments after the Big bang and he soon found in his calculations evidence that in the extreme environment of the very early universe, gravity could actually work in reverse and repel everything around it and cause a big expansion! With this discovery, he was able to shed some light on the very beginning of the Big Bang! Described mathematically, this force could take a bit of space as tiny as a molecule and blow it up to the size of a Milky Way Galaxy in less than an iota of seconds! Quite a powerful force there I must admit..haahaa!

Soon as the incredibly short outward burst particles was over, Space would continue to expand more slowly and cool and the planetary bodies are formed just like in the Big Bang theory! He called this short burst of particles “INFLATION” and he believes it explains why the universe continues to expand in the first place. In other words, the powerful repulsive gravity of Inflation was the bang In the Big Bang. Sounds convincing, right?

Inflation was so interesting because it made predictions that could actually be tested through observations. If the Inflation theory was correct, then evidence for it had to be found in the night sky. If we could shut off the sun and take away all the stars and our eyes could detect the rest of energy that remains, what we would see everywhere in the cosmos is a warm glow known as the “Cosmic Microwave Background”! This is simply put as; the last remnant of heat from The Big Bang.

In theory, it was predicted that the violent expansion of space during Inflation will form a precise pattern of temperature variation (with some spots slightly hotter or colder than others). It actually took about 10 years after the prediction before technology sophisticated enough to validate this theory was invented. i.e the NASA Cosmic Background Explorer Satellite.

This was followed by a second sateliite; WMap (Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe) that put the Inflation Theory to test.

The NASA missions were able to measure the radiation with absolutely tremendous precision and produced stunning results. The temperature changes were almost an identical match with the predictions of the Theory of inflation! This is just too convincing, I must say? Smiles**

The theory soon became a milestone towards our quest of understanding how the Universe came into existence and it also opened the floor for other Physicists like Alex Vilenkin and Andre Lindei to actually contribute to the Theory and even come up with their own ideas of the Multiverse and its existence! (You can check the names out to get a better understanding of their works and researches on the concept called ETERNAL INFLATION! – I might write on this topic if any of my readers indicate an interest..winks**)

Alex Vilenkin pondered on when the expansion generated by the Big Bang and The Inflation would come to a halt. Eventually, an idea struck him and he was able to deduce the possibility that Inflation does not end everywhere at once!. With this in mind, there definitely had to be some part of space where it is still happening! In this context, he believes the Big Bang as we know it is not the ultimately unique event! He suggests that there were other bangs before the Big Bang, after the Big Bang and many more bangs to happen in the future. This was quite a find as it explained how inflation could stop in some regions of space and actually start somewhere else! This meant that new Big bangs are always occurring and new Universes are always being created leading to an ever expanding Multiverse!!!

Many doubt this revolution in science. Of course, it may not be perfect, but I think I have to join the club that actually believes in the Multiverse! Lol! BTW, I have only shared a minute side of evidences that suggest we are actually in a Multiverse. Be free to make some personal findings of your own guys!

And Even though the concept of a multiverse is not well accepted in the scientific world due to the fact that we can’t observe what could be happening in these distant universes,( i.e. if they actually exist) since space is said to be infinite and each galaxy keeps moving farther away from one another due to the expansion that follows a Big Bang! If other universes exist, they must have had their own Big Bangs and they are also expanding and the distance keeps increasing between these multiple Universes.!

I however believe it is something that should actually be given some attention and not ignored because I am hopeful that ground breaking technology could be around in the nearest future to help us further validate the existence of the Multiverse since we can’t write off the idea of its existence anyways. How very interesting and fascinating that will be, I must say! But till then, we keep our fingers crossed, I guess.lol!

Thanks for reading through guys!. I hope I was able to pass something meaningful across to you in my own little way! Feel free to drop your comments and views on the topic guys! I look forward to learning from those of us who have a better understanding of this concept in Physics and Cosmology.

Cheers y’all. Remember to stay safe always.

What a delightful article. Do you know that line from Star Trek--To boldly go where no man has gone before? That's what your blog reminds me of. This an intellectual and creative adventure. Science, art, creation: these are not separate. How wonderfully you express and suggest this.
Well done.
