WHAT IS CHEMO SURGERY?
The use of chemical substances to destroy diseased or unwanted tissue..
Chemo surgery, also known as chemical peels help in the improvement of our skin appearance. It is a cosmetic treatment that can be used on the face, neck and hands. In the course of the treatment is what we call exfoliation in some cases. Chemical solutions are mixed together and applied to the affected area, this solution causes the area to peel off . This helps the skin to be soft and reduces wrinkles.

REASON FOR CHEMICAL PEEL
Major reasons people go for this cosmetic treatment include:

Hyperpigmentation: This is a medical term used to describe when some part of the skin becomes darker than other areas. Many things can cause hyperpigmentation. Ranging from injury, changing in hormones like in the case of a pregnant woman, use of bleaching cream.

Scar: scar can be as a result from injury, acne. It's a mark that remains after a wound. It takes time to fade, depending on the type.of scar.

Sunburn damage: This is a kind of skin burn which occurs from too much exposure to the sun. The use of sunglasses can help prevent sun damage to the skin.

TYPE OF CHEMICAL PEEL

PHENOL PEEL: This kind of peel removes skin cell deeper. This is done for the removal of deep skin cell. It goes as deep as penetrating into the middle layer of the skin and It involves the use of trichloroacetic acid. Deep peel is done by dermatologist and doctors. This health practitioners use cotton wool to apply phenol to the skin. It is done gradually for 15 minutes to avoid too much exposure to the acid. The disadvantage include skin burning, it takes weeks for the new skin cell to develop, Swelling may occur.

SUPERFICIAL PEEL: This peel is a non surgical skin treatment that involves the removal of the outer skin layer. It isn't as deep as a deep peel. This peel uses light acid such as lactic acid. This treatment is used for discoloration of skin tone, exfoliation. It's used to correct one's skin tone. This is done by most people at home by using exfoliating scrub or cream to smoothen their facial texture. Its effect could make one either lighter or darker.

Hi, @marynn. Welcome to STEMSocial! How can we get to know you better? Do you have some sort of STEM background, passion for science, technology, etc., experience in these fields? BTW, when you're making a post about STEM related topics, remember to include a few sources. It is a curation standard.

Welcome to StemSocial Community. I'm honoured that my article was the reason the joined this awesome community and wrote in it. That's cool.

This is the first time I'm hearing of Chemo Surgery. I think the side effects outweigh the benefits. Great article.

If you want to improve your content, I will suggest you read through articles that have voted within the community. My article that got you interested in writing STEM articles, was a video content, right? Improve your writing by visiting other authors. With time you would be great.

Kudos @marynn. Much love and a big hug 🙂
