Nice article. I managed to learn a few things. I was particularly amazed to read this:

Recently, researchers have found that some plants can recognise the pollen of related plants, as well as their own pollen, and also prevent it from growing properly. This kin recognition enables them to avoid self-fertilisation and fertilisation by close relatives.

This is really interesting. I was not imagining plant’s chemistry so complex. Can you please point me which one of the reference is the research article detailing that? Thanks in advance!

Yes, I really appreciate this question. Truly, some plants have been found to recognise the pollens of close plants and theirs and can as well prevent them from growing well so as to avoid self-fertilization. However, you can check the links below for detailed explanation on it.
