RE: Covid 19 and pregnancy: what you need to know

My wife and I had a conversation on the topic of this post during dinner earlier. What a coincidence!

Many pregnant women are indeed scared about the vaccine, also here in France. Usually, pregnant women are advised to stop as much as possible to take any medication for the best of the future baby. Consequently, when it comes to a new vaccine, it is logical, somehow, that they may be against taking it. The consequences of the COVID may hence end up as a c-section, a possibly dying fully intubated women, etc. That's just so terrible and sad...

To me I am not even suggesting any of my relation who is pregnant to take the vaccine. You never can tell what the outcome may be in future.

I prefer a pregnant mother staying indoors if possible until she is due for delivery which may not be that easy.

But looking at it in general some of the people who took this vaccine later came down with the virus. Then, what is now the need for the vaccine

The vaccine strongly reduces the risk to end in the ICUs. However, note that the situation is not the same anymore as when the vaccine was initially released. The omicron variant is different from the delta variant.

It is probably still too early to say that the vaccine is only necessary for fragile people [i my opinion]. The rate of hospitalisations is still too high.
