Life Inside Of Stars?

You probably think you have heard of truly bizarre life forms right? So, imagine this! Living cosmic necklaces made from monopoles on cosmic strings that life of the fusion energy in the centers of stars!

The summer is the time for strange hypothesizes. And as the summer is slowly coming to an end, let’s explore one that is truly strange. This extravagant theory which came from the physicists Luis Anchordoqui and Eugene Chudnovsky from The City University of New York. They imagined strange living entities that would have nothing in common with Earthly lifeforms with their genetic information stored in DNA or RNA.

These entities would have their genetic information stored in forms of monopoles and cosmic strings. The monopole particles would be threaded on cosmic strings creating cosmic necklaces. And if that itself doesn’t sound strange enough, these entities could exist inside of stars.

But before we start cheering that we discovered alien life, we need to say a few things. Both monopoles and cosmic strings are (at least for now) purely hypothetical if not speculative. But it’s summer, so who cares? Let’s explore the possibilities anyway!

Cosmic strings should be these incredible one-dimensional linear objects and monopoles should be elementary particles with a single magnetic pole. Both the cosmic strings and monopoles (if they exist) were most likely created very close to the Big Bang when the extremely dense and hot “soup” of the initial universe was cooling down.

According to Anchordoqui and Chudnovsky, these living cosmic necklaces should have been sitting inside stars living of their fusion energy. Thanks to the stellar fusion that could even replicate. And if this is true, then they would be living beings.

These self-replicating entities living of stellar energy could even mutate so they would experience natural selection. And we ourselves are proof that natural selection can create incredible lifeforms. Thus, incredibly interesting and complex entities could exist inside of stars. Maybe, just maybe, they could even develop intelligence and build civilizations that travel among the stars.

I know it is very hard just to even imagine these lifeforms that are being called “nuclear life” by the scientists. But we do not need to know what they look like to try to look for them. If they exist, then they should be draining the energy of their host star so it should be cooling quicker than other similar stars do.

And you may not believe this last part, but we actually do know of a few such stars. These stars are cooling down and the speed of the cooling is quickening. And our theories about stars don’t know why!
