Graphene Batteries Are Coming
As a memorandum with a value of 1 billion Euro is signed, graphene batteries are getting ready to go on the market.

Many teams all across the world are currently developing new types of batteries that should solve the problem current lithium-based cells suffer from. One of the promising technologies are graphene accumulators.
Graphene batteries are being developed by many teams around the globe. But the one we are going to be talking about today is called Skeleton Technologies (Estonia) that works with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany).
Their batteries are called SuperBattery and use something called Curved Graphene. It’s properties sound almost insane when you compare them to batteries we use nowadays. This technology should combine classical accumulators and ultra-capacitors. It takes accumulator’s high energy density and combines it with the ultra-capacitor’s extremely high number of life cycles –> hundreds of thousands of cycles, and extremely fast charging - > around 15 seconds.
High capacity, longevity, extremely fast-charing. Such properties make for an almost ideal battery. But, you should be skeptical. Such properties sound great on paper, but do they work in reality? Well, the company recently released information that they signed a memorandum with an automotive company with a value of 1 billion Euro. This should mean these accumulators should hit the market relatively soon. But how soon we do not know,. It could be next year or maybe in a few years.
