All about casting process in industries

Hello everyone i hope you all are fine and safe from the coronavirus outbreak. This is my first post in the stemsocial community my if i do any mistakes regarding putting images tell me in the comment section.
Today i am going to tell you about the casting process in industries. We all know how important these processes is for us. Because from these processes every thing is made. A lot of things are made by the casting process. So what is casting? , casting is one of the manufacturing process in which the matel is firstly heated to their semi solid state. Then this metel is put into a mould cavity. The shape of the mould cavity is same like the object we have to prepare. Then this whole is put for solidification. After that the solid part is taken from the mould cavity and then cleaned and finished. The casting process is done for the parts which can not be made by matching processes. Also not only the metals even plastics and glass can be cast . In industries casting is used from many years back. In casting smaller parts having few millimeters can be easily made.

There are many steps in making a casting of objects.

  1. Pattern making: Firstly we have to make the pattern. A pattern is a replica of an object which we have to made. So we have to the the exact shape of the object and then we pour molten metal in cavity made by the pattern. We can ask me the question why we need pattern if you made pattern then we can easily made same parts like that but the patern by made by a skilled person. After that this pattern can be used for making million of parts like this by simple casting.

  2. Mould preparation: After making the pattern we have to made the mould. Mould is formed from the sand . We have to put the sand in the small box . The pattern is put in the middle of the sand. Then we put pressure on the sand so that it we made a strong box and the pattern is removed from the sand which causes cavity in the mould.

  3. melting and pouring: we have to melt the metel by putting it in the furnaces where its state chages from solid to semi solid. After that this metel is put in the cavity through the sprue into the cavity.

  4. Cleaning and inspection: After the solidification of molten metal we remove the solid piece of metel and clean it by some method and put it for inspection. In inspection we see is there any defect in the part. After that the out part is ready for use.

Procedure for making casting
the working procedure of casting process is given below , in the working procedure there is a detailed information who the part is made by casting.

  1. place the pattern in the drag part of box. And put the sand around the pattern and ram the sand.After that tilt the drag box so that pattern can be visible.

  2. Put the cope box on the drag box .

  3. put spure from where the molten metal is inserted into the cavity. Then again put the sand in the cope box and ram it.

  4. After that remove the pattern, spure and riser from the sand.

  5. now put the molten metal to the cavity from the spure.

  6. Open the mould box for solidification

  7. clean and finish the final product.

Now our part is ready for use.
