As our children are now preparing to resume school activities next week, let's deeply look into the current system of education in the country for possible strategies towards the betterment of education in Nigeria.

Interesting. Students here are still in the process of writing their 3rd term exam. Does it mean that you guys don't have the same academic calendar as ours?

The topic you delved in today is a deep one whose discussion can take an entire day. There are many factors that contributed to the deterioration of our education here in Nigeria. Number one on the list of factors is the commercialization of education. We lost it all when private individuals were being granted licenses to operate private schools and universities. The result? A sitting president and his vice started a private university while the government universities were on almost a year strike. The rest is history.

Definitely! Sorry, I did not consider the current state of the nation's academic calendar.

commercialization of education

Boss! I totally agree with you on this. commercialization of education is one of the factors that put Nigeria education system in this mess. How I hope all the children of the politicians can be mandated to only attend public institution, no doubt, this will return the lost glory back to the public institution, thereby render private institution and their extortion less relevant.
