My Introduction Post to Hive

Introduction

Greetings from the Southwestern border of The Empire! I'm Kevin, and I'm from Phoenix, Arizona, now the 5th largest city in the United States. I've been on HIVE for about a month now, and figure it's about time I come out of the darkness and introduce myself.

My Job

I'm a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician, not grueling work. I'm mostly designing and mapping fiber optic networks as we build up the 5G infrastructure here in the Southwest.

Hobbies

When I'm not working, I spend most of my time playing PC games. Not long ago I started looking into blockchain based games. That's how I found Hive, through Splinterlands.

I used to draw quite well when I was younger, a teenager in the 90's, but since I haven't exercised that muscle in decades, I mostly lost it. But I would like to create some NFTs with utility on the Polygon side-chain or Tezos when I have the time.

Now that I'm on Hive...

I would like to write on this platform since I read the news constantly and always think of responses or ideas, but I never put them to words. Hopefully I'll be able to add some value to the community. I'm a big fan of the cyberpunk genre, hence my moniker and profile pics. I like to read up on futurism, science, transhumanism, cybernetics, AI, etc... so I will be following and writing about subjects surrounding that.

I'm a Biomedical Engineering dropout, I kept failing a specific class (Transport Phenomena, I think?) and ran out of money to complete the degree. Instead I ended up with a BS in Geography (Meteorology & Climatology). I care about the environment and climate change so I'll be following and writing about that too.

I'm looking forward to making my home here. I'm powering up and I'm trying out the SWAP.HIVE/PIZZA diesel pool since it gets a variety of rewards. I have an RSS reader full of stuff so I'm looking forward to sharing some interesting stories with the community going forward.
