Weekly Science And Technology Reports - November 5, 2023
Happy Sunday guys and also happy new month. The year is almost over, after the next month and we're done with this hellish year. I'd like to ask, do you think next year would be any better?
Personally, I feel like it's going to be.........I don't know. 🤭
But let's all hope that it's going to favour us, the truth is that it could be better and still not favour us or some people, it could not be better and still favour us or it could be other combinations. Personally, I hope it favours me regardless of being better or not. 🙃
Alright frenz, shall we begin with the proceedings of today?
Long presumed to have no heads at all, starfish may be nothing but
I believe most of us are familiar with starfish, if you aren't, then I think Patrick in SpongeBob could do the job - help you get familiar. Most animals seem to begin with a head, followed by the body and ending with a tail (not necessarily a physical tail), it's very evident but the starfish and some of it's relatives seem to be quite odd, it seems to possess a body with protrusions (five) looking like limbs, arranged in a way that makes it look like our symbolic depiction of a star. If you were asked to locate it's tail and head, you probably wouldn't, in fact, the consensus is that it doesn't have a head.
Seriously?
How does it control it's movements ?
Well, this report seems to be suggesting we may have been getting to whole picture wrong, it appears what we have been looking at this whole time is..........keep reading. Looks like the SpongeBob show got Patrick wrong. 🤫
What causes fainting? Scientists finally have an answer
Have you experienced syncope before? - I mean fainting, don't mind the grammar.
There are a lot of reasons why those that do it, do it but what exactly causes it to happen ?
The popular consensus is that it's due to reduced blood flow to the brain, especially with the fact that the blood carries the necessary things that the brain needs - oxygen and sugar.
If that were to be the case, what actually causes the blood flow to reduce? or how does someone, for example have a reduced flow of blood to the brain by merely seeing something - like blood ?
Well, scientists seem to have discovered the exact neural networks between the brain and the heart that controls fainting, and it seems this culprit has a lot of questions to answer......keep reading to find out more. For the record, I don't think I have fainted before, is it safe to say I don't have such networks ? 😂
Archaeologists Think They Might Have Found the Real Noah’s Ark
Certain biblical events has been subjects of debate for quite a long time, given that it's one the oldest books. One of these controversial events is the story of Noah's ark and in this report scientists (archaeologists) have found an ark that seems to match Noah's ark story........keep reading to find out more. But I must warn you, what you think you are looking for, you may not get it. 😉
Rats may have power of imagination, research reveals
One fascinating thing about we humans is our ability to imagine, we tend to imagine for a lot of reasons. When you put on your thinking cap, especially about the future, imagination follows - mental pictures of the objects of your thoughts. But hold on a minute, do you really think it's only us (humans) that have the ability to imagine?
Well, a recent research seems to be suggesting we may not be the only ones that can produce a film in our head.........keep reading to find out more. 🤔 this could explain why they (rats) successfully perform food heists in our home. 😂
Surprise Discovery Reveals a Whole New Source of Evaporation
When you spread your wet cloth, it drys. It drys because the water (liquid) has been converted into gas (vapour) and this process is referred to as evaporation. The evaporation wouldn't have been possible if not for the heat (latent) gained from the surroundings, including from the sun but could that really be true?
For quite a very long time, especially since the inception of physics, it's believed that heat is mainly responsible for evaporation and in fact, this is what the standard physics textbooks tell us. Well, that is not totally true, the physics we know about evaporation, according to a recent experiment appears to be incomplete. There seems to be another kind of energy that can also directly convert water to vapour, this energy is all around us and it's none other than........keep reading.
The First-Ever Lunar Farm Shows That Plants Can Grow On The Moon
As our journey to colonizing the cosmos begins, it would be better if we are fully prepared, as not to allow unexpected surprises leading to our ultimate demise. One of our basic needs is food and plants are among what supplies us with food, so therefore, wherever we would find ourselves beyond our planet, we need to be sure if plants too can also survive. Given that the moon appears to be the first on our mission of colonization, it's safe to ask, can plants survive there ?
In this report, scientists may have just found the answer. Looks like in the not too far future, we are going to be having Noah's ark 2.0 - transporting living things from earth to beyond earth, and on this ground, I would like to add that mosquitoes shouldn't be awarded spaceflight tickets - I hate mosquitoes. 😭
It is here we conclude today's report, have a thoughtful day and till i come your way again next week.
