Good day everyone and welcome to another episode of our weekly reports in science and technology, hope we are all doing great ?
For me, it's a yes, especially in this past week and it's because of ......can you guess ?

The world cup break - you probably didn't guess right 😂. The matches has been quite thrilling, shocking and at some point disappointing but it all still makes it very thrilling - yeah i know, said that on purpose 😁. But then, it's early to write some teams off.

Okay... Away from soccer and back to the main deal of this post. - our science and technology reports. So, below are some the interesting reports you may have missed in the past week.

How many yottabytes in a quettabyte? Extreme numbers get new names

Science as it's today relies heavily on facts, especially experimental facts and one way of presenting these facts is quantitatively. By quantitative, we mean being expressible in numbers, this helps us make better decisions practically and also, the laws of nature in the form equations requires these numbers for further and meaningful predictions. Apart from the numerical aspect of the quantitative data, there are also other important things present that makes it more meaningful, especially for communication purposes and one of them is when the numerical value is too large or small. As science progresses these days more discoveries are being made that requires an ever increasing/decreasing amounts of figures in the quantitative data. For a clearer picture, we know that 1000g (10^3g) is termed 1kg (1 kilogram) the prefix k (kilo) was added to the gram for better communication of measured mass (making it less stressful/less complicated), we also know that in other SI units/metric system the kilo also exists, like kilometres (1 km), the kilo is simply for 1000 (10^3). There are systems that usually requires larger or smaller values than the kilo and so other prefixes were invented. The last time prefixes for the metric systems were invented and agreed upon by world governments and scientists was in 1991 and these prefixes were zepto (10^-21), yocto (10^-24), yotta (10^24) and zetta (10^21). Notice how very small and large those values are but however, systems are being discovered that makes using those prefixes (introduced in 1991) more complicating and stressful - values are getting more larger and smaller.
In this recent report, new prefixes have been invented and agreed upon...... Read more

Strict Parenting May Hardwire Depression Into a Child’s DNA

Ever had this feeling of dullness accompanied with pessimistic thoughts or that the universe appears to be against you and you try a lot of things to help feel better but it still persists ?

Can someone remind me the right word that fits this scenario ?
Ooh.... Thanks my inner mind, it's depression 😁
One way or the other we may have experienced it but if not handled well and on time could be tragic, especially to those related to the afflicted. What then, causes depression ?

Well, there are different causes but there appears to be a newer one. When we first come into existence, one of the first set of and important people we come in contact with are our parents/guardians, and according to a recent study, there seems to be a correlation between a certain parenting style and depression. For those of us who are or would later become parents, this report may come in handy, especially for your child's mental health....read more

Scientists Reveal That Eating These Foods Can Worsen Menstrual Cramps

I believe this report may be of great interest to the ladies so, pay close attention.

From the onset of puberty to adulthood the female (human) body undergoes biological processes that prepares and unprepares the human female for the continued existence of mankind - i mean reproduction, and one of these processes is the menstrual cycle, which lasts on the average 28 days. The menstrual cycle has different phases, one of them being the menstruation phase - the bloody phase. It's at this phase that things can become pretty ugly, an example being dysmenorrhoea/menstrual cramp. Dysmenorrhoea is a kind of pain that accompanies menstruation and it could make the girl feel uncomfortable. Not every girl can withstand this pain and some usually resort to medications which often times isn't that effective. However, a recent research seems to suggest another way of handling the pain and it's by avoiding certain kinds of food. Do you wish to know the kinds of food to avoid ?
Kindly take an entrance here my lady to find out.

How to test if we're living in a computer simulation

Some of us, if not most may have seen or played a video game before, especially ones that have characters that looks like us. Generally speaking, the reality in any video game is referred to as a virtual reality - not a real reality. However, when such reality (virtual) is designed to mimic our real world it becomes a simulated reality. There are real life experiments that can be done on a computer through a simulation, this helps to predict future outcomes of the real world event, this is if you want to avoid playing around with equations.

But... What if our real world was actually a simulated reality of some relatively real alien world ?

Wait a minute, did i just confuse you there ?

Okay, this is what i mean. What if some alien race of beings so technologically advanced simulated their own reality (which may not be real too) on their computer and it became our universe/reality ?
If this were to be true, then it would mean that our universe, including us in it is made up of and ran by programs/softwares and we interpret some of these programs as natural laws. We know that the basic building blocks of computer programs are bits of information (0's and 1's), this would imply that the fundamental building blocks of our universe aren't particles but information.
Let me shock you further, some of us maybe simulations of an alien relative who had died.
😨
The alien probably brought back to life his dead grandfather/friend in our reality (the simulated reality). One of the sequels of "The Matrix" movie - The Matrix resurrections, has a perfect example somewhat similar to this kind of scenario (Morpheus).
There are physical problems yet unresolved and evidences (indirect) that seems to suggest this but how do we design experiments that removes doubt and thus confirm this hypothesis ?
This is what a researcher in this recent report attempts to do....read more

Twins born from embryos frozen 30 years ago

What if I told you my age isn't my real age, that I was frozen in ice for 50 years - I'm supposed to be 50 years older, just like Captain America or Avatar Aang. Would you believe me ?
Well, if you don't then there's no need going further with this report, 😤 have a great day.

But... keep reading to find out more.

Note : whatever i said earlier regarding myself been frozen shouldn't be taken seriously. It was only a joke, just in case you swallowed it. 🙊

Opinion: COP27 will be remembered as a failure—here's what went wrong

Some of us maybe aware of the current climate change crisis but are we aware of the fact that there are countries suffering for it the most, despite contributing very little to the disaster. Well, for the first time since 2016, the UN climate change conference has been held in one of the regions where the effects of climate change is being felt the most - Africa. This conference which started in the 1990's is held every year to help tackle climate change crisis, especially introducing new policies and compensating those most affected but least responsible. This year's conference was held in Africa, specifically in Egypt, as Africa appears to be the continent most affected but least responsible for the climate change. The conference, also called COP27 started on the 6th of Nov 2022 and ended on the 20th of Nov 2022 (last Sunday) and according to reports, the conference appeared to have ended in a disaster - most of it's agendas weren't met. In this report however, some researchers highlights what seemed to have been the problems and how it could be avoided in the next conference (COP28) which is scheduled to take place next year in UAE (Dubai).....read more

It is here we conclude today's report, have a thoughtful day and till i come your way again next week.

That's because you're probably in an environment where the prefix "giga" is relatively more common as maximum.
It's not the maximum.
