Hello science lovers! Today I came with my wife to visit a project of the municipal council of "Corroios" which for me is excellent since it tries to educate about the biodiversity of the area where we live, this project is carried out by two Portuguese Biologists specialized in environmental ecology and whose purpose is to create awareness about the local fauna and flora, as well as care about the invasive species that affect the Portuguese territory more and more every day! enjoy my experience in the project!🧠🧑🏫

Hola amantes de la ciencia! hoy vine con mi esposa a visitar un proyecto de la camara municipal de "Corroios" que para mi es excelente ya que trata de educar sobre la biodiversidad de la zona donde habitamos, este proyecto es llevado a cabo por dos Biologos Portugueses especialistas en Ecologia ambiental y cuyo proposito es crear cosciencia sobre la fauna y flora local, asi como el cuidado sobre la especies invasoras que cada dia afectan mas al territorio Portugues! disfruta de mi experiencia en el proyecto!👩🏫🧑🎓
How did the project start?🌳🐍🌄/ Como comenzo el proyecto🧠🌏
I want to leave you the link of the project that will currently still be open until the end of May, if you want to know a little more about it! The project was born in the year 2020 and was promoted by the photographer Biologist: "Mauro Hilário" this gentleman during the period of 2020-2023 made an inventory of the local fauna and flora of "the powder factory of corroios", the main reason of calling his project "biodiversity island" is because he demonstrates through the use of photographs and filming: "photo-trap" all the species of animals and plants that take refuge in this area that is surrounded by buildings and human structures! and thus conclude that there may be preserved places where the animals that are displaced by the construction can take refuge here!🧠🌲
Quiero dejarte el link del proyecto que actualmente aun estara abierto hasta el fin de mayo, si quieres conocer un poco mas sobre el! el proyecto nace en el ano 2020 y fue impulsado por el Biologo fotografo: "Mauro Hilário" este senor durante el periodo del 2020-2023 realizo un inventario sobre la fauna y flora local de "la fabrica de polvora de corroios", la principal razon de llamar a su proyecto "isla de biodiversidad" es porque el demuestra mediante el uso de fotografias y filmajes: "foto-trampa" todas las especies de animales y plantas que se refugian en esta zona que esta rodeada de edificios y estructuras humanas! y asi concluir que pueden existar locales preservados donde los animales que son desplazados por la construccion pueden refugiarse aqui!🪱🧠🌲
Why is it important to study biodiversity?🌳🐍🌄/ Por que es importante estudiar la biodiversidad?🧠🌏
Studying local Biodiversity allows us to understand and understand how nature is connected to the environment that surrounds us, it literally educates us about the living beings that share our home, no one would say that something with a few hectares could house more than 80 species of plants and animals , and in turn we understand that these animals led to inhabit the space where a building was currently built🌍🧠
Estudiar la Biodiversidad local nos permite entender y comprender como se conecta la naturaleza en el entorno que nos rodea, literalmente nos educa sobre los seres vivos que comparten nuestro hogar, nadie diria que algo de pocas hectareas podria albergar mas de 80 especies de plantas y animales, y a su vez comprendemos que estos animales llevaron a habitar el espacio donde actualmente se construyo un edificio🪱🧠

Today I learned two different things that I didn't know! For example, in this area called desert island we can get the plant species: "Drosophyllum lusitanicum" this plant is unique in its category because it is insectivorous, despite the fact that the nutrient intake by insects is very low, it is a quite interesting species that occurs In few areas of Portugal, to such an extent that it is threatened in our territory, deforestation and urbanization are one of the main causes of its disappearance!🧑🎓🌲
Hoy aprendi dos cosas diferente que no lo sabia! por ejemplo en esta zona llamada isla de desierto podemos conseguir la especie de planta: "Drosophyllum lusitanicum" esta planta es unica en su catogoria por ser insectivora, apesar que la ingesta de nutrientes por insectos es muy baja es una especie bastante interesante que se produce en pocas zonas de Portugal, a tal punto que se encuentra amenazada en nuestro territorio la deforestacion y urbanizacion son una de las principales causas de su desaparicion!🌳👩🏫
Another thing I learned is that the Portuguese government, through an investigation of more than 10 years, came to the conclusion that in order to eradicate the species of acacia that displaces many other local plants, it was necessary to bring an insect and introduce it into our country, as you can see it affects the flowers of the plant preventing it from being able to reproduce and this "parasite" only affects this specific species of acacia, interesting, right?🌏🧑🏫
Otra cosa que aprendi es que el gobierno Portugues mediante una investigacion de mas de 10 anos llego a la conclusion que para erradicar la especie de acacia que desplaza muchas otras plantas locales era necesario traer un insecto e introducirlo en nuestro pais, el como puedes ver afecta las flores de la planta evitando que consiga reproducirse y este "parasito" solo afecta esta especie de acacia en especifico interesante no?👩🏫🧑🎓

There are many species of animals and plants that we find on the island, among which we highlight: "Pelophylax perezi, which is a very common frog in the territory, a fungus also stands out in this landscape and it is: Macrolepiota procera in which we did an experiment with our researcher to see how contact with them releases spores into the air!among the most common birds I can highlight Passer domesticus the so-called pardal.🐍🪱🧠
Hay muchas especies de animales y plantas que conseguimos en la isla, entre las que destacamos: "Pelophylax perezi que es una rana muy comun del territorio, un hongo tambien destaca en este paisaje y se trata de: Macrolepiota procera en la cual hicimos un experimiento con nuestro investigador para ver como el contacto con ellos libera esporas al aire! entre las aves mas comunes puedo destacar Passer domesticus el llamado pardal. 🐿️🦅🌏
Night cameras🌳🐍🌄/ Camaras nocturnas🧠🌏
As you can see, the biologists placed 3 nocturnal cameras to practice photo traps and next to an artificial lagoon created by them, they were able to record animals that are nocturnal, such as owls and Vulpes vulpes, which is the common fox, a species that was not known to inhabit the island. even use the night cameras!🌍🧠
Como puedes ver los biologos colocaron 3 camaras nocturas para practicar fototrampa y junto a una laguna artificial creada por ellos pudieron registrar animales que son de habitos nocturnos como lechuzas y Vulpes vulpes que es el zorro comun, especie que no se sabia que habitaba en la isla hasta usar las camaras nocturnas!👩🏫🌳🐿️
This experience is quite short, just 30 minutes, but you are impressed with the large number of species that you can find on the protected island. Now if I tell you that something that makes me value and love nature even more is how all beings connect alive, I assure you that if we remove a mammal like the fox, the rabbits would probably no longer have predators and some other species would be compromised! therefore it is important not to alter our ecosystem itself that is in the surroundings of our houses!🧠🌳
Esta experiencia es bastante corta de apenas 30minutos pero quedas impresionado con la gran cantidad de especies que te consigues dentro de la isla protegida, ahora si te digo que algo que me hace valorar y amar a la naturaleza aun mas es como se conectan todos los seres vivos, te aseguro que si quitamos un mamifero como el zorro probablemente los conejos ya no tendrian depredadores y algunas otras especies se verian comprometidas! por tanto es importante no alterar nuestro ecosistema mismo que se encuentre en los alrededores de nuestras casas!🌏🐍🧑🏫
This was an exhibition by the illustrator Adriana Melo, a Brazilian who has been studying botany for many years and who captures in her creations the most beautiful side of Portuguese and Brazilian painting, each painting has its description and teaches us a little about its ecology!🧠🌲
Esta fue una exposicion de la ilustradora Adriana Melo, una brasilena que tiene muchos anos estudiando botanica y que plasma en sus creaciones el lado mas bonito de la pintura Portuguesa y Brasilena, cada pintura tiene su descripcion y nos ensena un poco de su ecologia!🐍🌏
