4 very simple things to do after sex to prevent infection

Hi people!!

It's been a long time since I dropped a post here and this is mainly because I have been busy with being an underpaid doctor.

Enough of the complaints and let's talk about today's topic.

I saw a tweet by proko doctor some months ago and he said "go and wee instead of asking what are we?"
This statement was like throwing a shade at girls but it is one of those healthy sexual habits everyone should inculcate but mostly women.

In today's post, I will be writing about 4 simple things you should do after sex.

1. Wash up

I know sometimes it can be very intense before having sex but if you have not had a bath in a couple of hours, it is only logical to take a bath.

This makes it a lot more hygienic for both you and your partner.

A lot of people engage in oral sex and if it is not clean it can be a turn-off.

After the whole activity, washing up is also essential.

This is because the vagina contains a lot of bacteria and if one does not wash up as a man, it can irritate the skin.

Also, the woman should wash up as you don't know if your partner has an infection that can ascend into the urethra causing a urinary tract infection.

It is important to know that when washing you should wash from the front to the back so as not to carry bacteria from the anus to the vagina or the urinary tract.

2. Douching.

I have heard a lot of girls say things like they try to wash their vagina very well by using soap to clean the inner part.

This is absolutely wrong and unacceptable!!

Yes, it looks and feels hygienic but in the real sense, it causes more harm than good.

The vagina environment contains a lot of bacteria.

These bacteria are responsible for the balance and pH in the vagina.

This goes to say that any alteration in the vagina environment increases one's susceptibility to infection.

This is why you hear people say that they wash their vaginas and they are so clean but yet come down with an infection.

AVOID DOUCHING

3. Drink water and PEE!!

Stasis of anything in the body can lead to infections.

If there is stasis of urine in the bladder, infections can arise within the bladder.

If there is stasis of blood within the endometrium, endometritis ensues.

There are times during sex when we inadvertently migrate bacteria from one part of the body to the urinary tract.

For example, for those who engage in anal sex, there is a possibility of getting infections from the anus into your penile urethra.

And it is possible to migrate that and rub it on the urethra of your partner.

Drinking a lot of water and peeing prevents the stasis of these organisms.

So drinking water and urinating within five minutes will do a lot.

An added benefit is that drinking water helps the kidneys too.

4. Hand washing

Handwashing just simply means washing your hands with water.

Hand washing is the single most effective way of preventing infections.

Proper handwashing helps prevent infections.

Washing with soap and water after sex is ideal. It doesn't take more than 2 minutes to do it.

Afterwards, you can then go back to hold your partner.
Below is a video that shows the proper way to wash your hand.

Thank you for reading.
