The great problem of constipation

avatar

This will be the last post I make this year in this prestigious community, I hope that everyone who reads my publications have kept some of the information that I have shared with you, it pleases me to know that somehow I can generate content that positively impact people in some way.

All human beings need to eat, it is logical, but we react differently to food, and likewise we have a way to eliminate waste through the evacuation of feces, this particularly varies in our lives, depending on age, our physical activity, what we eat, the amount of water we ingest, and each person differs in these aspects.

But there is an alteration in the pattern of evacuation that can be more or less common and it is the constipation, so I wanted to share information about it. I invite you to continue reading because what I want to tell you will surely interest you.

Let's start by defining constipation:

Constipation is a bowel disorder characterized by difficulty in passing stools or by the passage of hard, dry stools.

Constipation is a bowel disorder characterized by difficulty passing stools or by passing hard, dry stools. This may occur because the bowel is retaining too much fluid or because the bowel movement is too slow.

Constipation can be a temporary or chronic problem and can be caused by a variety of factors, such as a diet poor in fiber, stress, insufficient fluid intake, sedentary lifestyle, some medications, and some underlying medical conditions.

  • Symptoms of constipation may include abdominal pain, bloating, a feeling of incomplete evacuation and infrequent bowel movements. In most cases, constipation can be treated with diet and lifestyle changes, as well as the use of bowel transit medications.

Let's talk a little about the digestive system and how the process of stool formation works:

  • The digestive system is a set of organs that work together to digest food we eat and eliminate waste from the body.

The digestive system is a set of organs that work together to digest the food we eat and eliminate waste from the body. The process of stool evacuation begins when the food we have eaten enters the stomach and is mixed with hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes. The digested food and liquids then pass through the small intestine, where nutrients are absorbed and waste is eliminated.

The large intestine is the last part of the digestive system and is where stool is formed. Stool is composed of undigested food, bile and other substances that have not been absorbed in the small intestine. The muscular movement of the intestines pushes the stool into the rectum, where it accumulates until it is expelled through the anus during bowel movements.

The frequency and consistency of stool may vary depending on the individual's diet and lifestyle. Normal stools are usually soft and easy to pass, while constipation is characterized by hard, dry stools. Bowel disorders such as diarrhea or constipation may be caused by changes in diet, stress, insufficient fluid intake or some underlying medical conditions.

  • Long-term constipation can have several negative health effects. Some of them are:
  • Abdominal pain and bloating: The retention of hard, dry stool in the bowel can cause abdominal pain and bloating.

  • Anal fissures: Hard, dry stool can damage the skin around the anus during bowel movements, which can lead to anal fissures.

  • Inflammation of the rectum: Chronic constipation can cause inflammation of the rectum, which can lead to symptoms such as pain during bowel movements and rectal bleeding.

  • Chronic constipation: Constipation can become a chronic problem if not properly treated, which can negatively affect quality of life.

  • Diverticular disease: Chronic constipation can lead to the formation of small pouches in the large intestine (diverticula), which can become inflamed and cause abdominal pain and fever.

It is important to treat constipation promptly to avoid these long-term effects. If constipation is persistent or severe, it is important to consult a physician to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment. Here are some ways to treat constipation:** ** Increase fiber intake: A diet rich in fiber can help soften stools and make them easier to pass.

  • Increase your fiber intake: A diet rich in fiber can help soften your stool and make it easier to pass. You can increase your fiber intake by eating foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans.

  • Drink enough fluids: Fluids can help soften the stool and make it easier to pass. It is important to drink enough fluids, especially water, throughout the day.

  • Exercise regularly: Exercise can help stimulate bowel movements and prevent constipation. Try to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, in moderation.

  • Try to relax: Stress and anxiety can affect bowel movements and contribute to constipation. Try to find ways to relax and reduce stress, such as meditating or breathing exercises.

  • Use a laxative gently: If diet and lifestyle changes do not help relieve constipation, you may need to use a laxative to help stimulate bowel movement. There are several types of laxatives available, including osmotic laxatives, lubricants and stimulants. Note: ***It is important to talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using any type of laxative to make sure it is safe and right for you.

It is difficult to determine an overall prevalence rate of constipation because voiding patterns vary widely from person to person and may depend on factors such as diet, lifestyle, and age. In addition, the definition of what is considered constipation may vary from person to person.

According to some studies, constipation is a common problem that affects about 25% of the population at some point in their lives. Constipation can affect people of all ages, although it is more common in older adults and women. Chronic constipation, which is characterized by infrequent passage of hard, dry stools for more than three months, is less common, but may be more serious and require medical treatment.

NOTE: It is important to remember that constipation may be a symptom of an underlying medical problem, so if diet and lifestyle changes do not help relieve constipation or if constipation is persistent or severe, it is important to consult a physician to determine the cause and receive appropriate treatment.

I say goodbye, but not before wishing you a great year 2023, I hope you all have much prosperity and health to enjoy all the good things to come.

This is the first time I read about it. But, maybe, anything is possible. However, I have no information about it.

What a shitty topic to end the year (sorry this was a stupid and too-tempting joke)! Thanks a lot for this information . As always, a healthy diet could help quite a bit. In my case, I used to have a lot of such problems because of travels. The COVID pandemic solved it, in some sense.

At first I didn't get the joke LOL, I thought I had really done something wrong. But it's pretty good. I get it.

Traveling, because of the habit in eating usually affects in this aspect, plus the circadian cycle, which throws the sleep pattern out of whack as well. But it's part of traveling.
Thanks for the input.
