TUMOR: A deadly killer.

Greetings great hivers, I wish to use this medium to appreciate hive community for the love I received after introducing myself to this community. Indeed I was overwhelmed with the comments. As I promised, I will keep to all the rules that governs the activities here. This will be my very first post to discuss about "TUMOR", I will try as much as I can to open our eyes to this deadly killer.

Knowledge they say is power, few years back I lost one of my lecturer who died as a result of brain tumor after days of recovery from the operation. We have million's of diseases that are really dealing with mankind, funny enough scientist are trying their best to curtail the outbreak of these diseases but human being's are ignorant.

Tumor

Tumor is the leading cause of mortality for those younger than 65 years of age, this is because our bodies are made up of cells that divide themselves all the time. These are what some particular cells are meant to do but it becomes a problem when it happens uncontrollably. When they're now exposed to hazardous environments or conditions they tend to divide more rapidly than required and lead to the tumors or growths in the body. So you can say bad tumors are a case of cell division gone wrong. Tumors are a prominent part of life because our cells needs to divide or grow every now and then, as a normal process.

Tumor microenvironment

WHAT ARE TUMORS

A tumor is a tissue growth that grows uncontrollably and uncoordinated without physiological control. You can also say, it's a disease in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues. Tumors can be cancerous (Malignant) or Noncancerous (Benign). They're predominantly a disease of aging because it takes several mutation for them to develop, but in recent times many young adult and teenagers have started coming down with tumors.

TYPES OF TUMOR

(1) BENIGN TUMOR: These are mild, gentle and non- threatening to health. That they gentle and non threatening does not stop it from being a tumor. It's a tumor in a resting phase and yet active. They are well differentiated growths that resemble normal cells but still can't control cell proliferation. They grow uncontrollably but slowly. These start out as small microscopic tumors about the size of 0.5mm, which is about the size of the tip of a ball point pen. Research have shown that about 40% of women have tumors in their breast while 50% of men have prostrate cancers and 70% people will come down with cancers in their thyroid before or at old age but sometimes still in very small size. They are not yet dangerous because they can't grow beyond this point if they don't get nutrients that makes them grow.

SYMPTOMS OF BENIGN TUMOR

(1): Weight loss
(2): Discomfort
(3): Fatigue
(4): fever
(5): Night sweat
(6): Chills.

(2): MALIGNANT TUMORS: They're cancerous and dangerous to health. If proper care is not taken it can lead to death. Malignant tumors are staged differently which includes, (a) tumor size (b) lymph node (c) Involvement (d) Metastasis.
That's why when diagnosed you hear people say it's a stage 1 or stage 4 cancer.
SYMPTOMS OF MALIGNANT TUMOR.
(1) Bleeding
(2) Anaemia cells
(3) Pain
(4) Cells looking very different from others when scanned or after a biopsy.

Malignant tumor

WHO IS AT RISK?

Everyone is at risk of malignant tumors as stated earlier, not just because our cells divide themselves as a normal process before things go wrong, but also because we have completely changed the world and our lifestyle from what it was meant to be.
FACTORS THAT CAN CAUSE TUMORS.
(1) Hereditary gene anomalies
(2) Exposure to toxic agents and chemical products.
(3) Exposure to some viruses (HPV, hepatitis B, HIV).
(4) Radiation
(5) Exposure to so much sunlight
(6) Emotional instability ( Negative hormones can lead to uncontrollably growth of cells)
(7) Unhealthy behaviors ( Consumption of tabacco & high consumption of alcohol
(8) Food
(9) lifestyle

THE MAJOR FACTOR THAT TRIGGERS TUMOR.

The greatest threat to our well being is no longer assassination, robbery, infectious outbreaks, riots e.t.c but our lifestyle choice, some feels they are having the best time of their lives, eating some of the kind of things they eat, but in actual sense of it, they are slowly digging their graves with their own hands ignorantly.

FOOD: Food is any substance when eaten and absorbed into the system, furnishes force and heat to the system. It builds cells and repairs and repairs damaged ones without causing any injury. For one to live healthy, primitive nutritional wisdom should be incorporated as a life style, because our foods are over processed. We must learn to ignore most of the civilized food stuffs that line the shelves of supermarket. We are to focus on nutrient dense foods, where nothing is removed. We must, as a matter of fact understand that eating right starts with building a good relationship with our food. When you love your food, you will prepare it the right way.

POINTS TO CONSIDER IN FOOD

(1) Be sensitive to the temperature food is prepared, Food should be prepared at low heat. The nutrient found in the different kind of food we eat are destroyed at high temperature, which is why most of people consume food that has no nutritional value. Some food and ingredients even becomes carcinogenic (ability to cause malignant tumor) at high temperature, Example: Palm oil
(2) Don't allow environmental pollution ( Pesticides, pests).
(3) Timing, Know the right food to eat at the right time
(4) Food processing, this should be done in a way that the nutrients in the food are not lost.

FOODS TO AVOID

(1) Ice cream (2) Hot dogs (3) Soda. (4) Glazed doughnut. (5) Energy drinks (6) French friends. (7) Table salt ( Sodium chloride). (8) Cheese (9) peanut butter (10) Chocolate.
