Market Friday: Salak Fruit Is My Wife and Children's Favorite

Hello friends #Hive, meet me again @abizahid. I hope you all have a good day today. This is my contribution to the #MarketFriday community hosted by @dswigle.

Today I will share with you a story about my trip to the fruit market. Actually I wanted to share this story with all of you last Friday afternoon, but I couldn't do that because I was busy taking care of the children at home who were still small. I hope all my friends understand it.

Yesterday morning, after meeting a friend at his house, I intend to go to the fruit market which is not far from my friend's house. It can be said that the fruit market is still in the same village as my friend's house, namely the village of Mon Geudong. In this village, precisely in one of the hamlets, the government provides small business owners to sell, regardless of the type of merchandise. There are 5 shops or taverns that specialize in selling fruits, while there are other shops that sell sandals / shoes and also Acehnese cuisine. But in this post because my goal is only to buy fruit, then of course I will tell you about my activities in buying fruit.

Arriving at the market, I was greeted like a king by the fruit seller. With a sweet smile and friendly greeting, I was invited to stop by and see the fruits I wanted to buy. Don't worry about the price, there must be negotiations, he said. It is a service of an extraordinary marketing strategy.

I then started to choose the fruit that I wanted to buy, I saw salak fruit in one of the left corners of the fruit seller's shop. I know very well that my wife and children at home really like salak fruit. But of course the salak must be sweet in taste, and not sour. Now specifically at this shop, the fruit seller only provides sweet bark, namely Pondoh Salak. Salak pondoh is one of the salak cultivars that grows in the area of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Province, precisely on the slopes of Merapi. Salak pondoh has a characteristic sweet taste or does not match since the fruit is still young.

Then I started negotiating about the price, and it was agreed that the price was Rp. 15,000/kg in Indonesian currency or at 1$/kg. The seller immediately wrapped my salak fruit order well and didn't forget to say thank you for buying it. After paying the price of the salak fruit, I went straight home.

Happy New Year to you!! We made it to the other side! Thank you for posting on the #MarketFriday challenge. I know this is an especially busy time of year, so I am pleased that you took the time. To be honest with you, it touches my heart that it has continued for so long, and yet, almost every single person gives me something fresh and interesting. Many people really thought it would run its course of markets and end, but, everyone that participates has proven this theory wrong. With Christmas just past and New Year upon us, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you so much for helping make this challenge a success. Without your help, it would be just another place to post. It is people like you that have given it a recognizable name. Thank you!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.
