When Technology Fails - Dealing with Unreliable Network!
I had an incredibly busy day. I attended the memorial ceremony of my mentor priest's parents where I was honored to serve the bishop and other reverend fathers, and also helped attend to the guests. By the time I got home, I was exhausted and stressed to the max. Dragging myself to the shower, I allowed the cool water from the shower do it's magic. The refreshing cold bath brought calm to my weary body.
After that, I decided to unwind by accessing my phone and doing some stuff online. But, little did I know that my frustration was only just beginning. For over two hours, I was stuck struggling to get connected to the internet. Disconnections, slow speeds, and failed reloads were all I got from each of the site I open.
In a desperate bid to get connected, I found myself switching between 4G and 3G. The 4G network would barely give me two bars, while the 3G network had nothing to offer. In fact it disappeared altogether, leaving me with a "no internet connection" message. I tried rebooting my phone, and while waiting for it to restart, the fatigue finally had its grips on me. I dozed off for what felt like an eternity, only to be jolted awake by the flickering of the bulb light. Oh, a welcome relief!
I checked my phone - reboot completed but that didn't help. The internet was still fluctuating, adding more salt to the injury. I couldn't take the frustration any longer, so I needed to let it out - to #rant, #complain, #talk. I just had to vent!
Arrghh! It's really infuriating that after paying for data services, one can't get value money. Is it too much to ask for reliable internet access? Apparently, it is.
It's just disheartening how unreliable these network providers have become. In recent times, it seems like network outages and sluggish speeds have become the norm rather than the exception. The frequency and duration of these disruptions are not only frustrating but also alarming.
I've got two mobile numbers with different service providers MTN and Airtel, but unfortunately, neither of them seems to be meeting expectations lately. Both of them can't even measure up to one. It's frustrating, and I often wonder if they're working together to frustrate their customers. I mean, what are the chances that both networks would be down or providing poor connectivity at the same time?
It's even more annoying having your data subscription expire without being used. I've experienced this countless times, and I'll be forced to sub again, which ends up same way. 😭
It's not just the internet. Making phone calls is also a problem. Many times, you call someone and it says 'not reachable'.And it's not like the person is genuinely unreachable - it's just the network failing to connect the call, or rather playing some tricks.
Due to these call connectivity issues, I've lost business opportunities. It's not just about me trying to call others, but also clients trying to reach me. When they can't get through, they seek alternatives. I understand, but it's frustrating to lose business because of something that's not in my control.
Sometimes I wonder what's behind this surge in unreliable internet services? Is it a lack of investment in infrastructure, inadequate maintenance, or simply a failure to prioritize customer satisfaction?
As consumers, we deserve better. We deserve reliable, fast, and affordable internet access that enables us to work, learn, and connect without interruptions. Anything less is unacceptable.
But, who do we complain to when the government doesn't seem to care about fixing these network problems?
So far as this epileptic network connection issue is concerned, we're all OYO - On Your Own

I can relate with your frustrations because this happened last 🌞 to me as well. I could not connect to the internet despite having loads of data. I had to become a pilot by force by switching to airplane mode every one minute and that was how I was able to receive few online messages.
The OYO levels ehn, is real
It was just too much to swallow. Getting home exhausted, no light and the only place that would have helped me de-stress, added more to the stress.
That's the most annoying part of it. Most times, my data subs expire without being used up.
And I'll be forced to sub again 😭
Haven't heard of this trick before, I'll try it out. Thank you
We can't stay away from data na irrespective of their hullabaloo 😁
Data is life 😜
I thought you were going to mention 9mobile. I think MTN has done badly in the last six months, I think it's somehow strange, because they were the best in Nigeria
Whether 9 Mobile is still existing, I don't even know. MTN service is getting worse by the, and it's a pity NCC isn't doing anything about this poor service.
