These Hotel Slippers are true Lethal Weapons

On Tuesday evening, I almost died... No joke... After arriving at the family flat, I was in the bathroom before going to bed when I slipped and hit my back on the edge of the bath.

I was on the floor for about thirty seconds, in fact, until someone came to help me up...

Here are the "almost" murder weapons. Two bad cloth hotel slippers and I couldn't resist taking a photo of them to remember them and share them with you on this blockchain so that I can remember this moment and its consequences. And above all, the consequences that could have happened. But before we get there, let's take a closer look...

Here's the underside of these slippers. They look like they're made from the same material used for the glides you put under furniture to make it slide ! In other words, I'll never wear those things again and I'll stick to my old Birkenstocks !

But here's why it could have ended very badly. A few centimetres away and at a different angle (but not very far away) I could have hit that corner of the bath with my neck. And then, no more Anttn, or just a way much diminished version ^^ !

Fortunately, it was 'only' the lower back on the left that took the impact. I could also have hit the spine, but what can I say... fate wasn't in this mood and decided otherwise.

So I'm doing very well, even if the physiotherapist I managed to see the next day confirmed that I could have hurt myself a lot more and that I'll be out for ten days or so for the first stage of recovery. But between that and not being able to walk any more, the choice is quickly made !

So that's my medication kit : an anti-inflammatory cream, peppermint essential oil, which is also anti-inflammatory and known for the cooling sensation it gives, and finally a bit of homeopathy with Arnica.

The physiotherapist also recommended that I wear a lumbar support belt, and I have to admit that it's really helped me over the last few days !

I'm going to confess to you that I don't regret anything - because there's no point - and that even now that it's happened and I'm suffering the consequences, I'm going to take advantage of this physically degraded state to take better care of myself.

In fact, when we're in good shape and everything's going well, we never (or very rarely) think about how wonderful it is to have nothing and feel ready for anything. So this is a renew lesson, and as I have to admit that I'm very rarely ill, I don't get this lesson very often.

If you have any advice or recommendations, I'd love to hear from you, and I hope that despite this 'not so good' news, you've still enjoyed this article and the accompanying images. Thank you for visiting and have a great weekend!

Take special care of yourself,

<3

<3

Oh dear, yikes! Thankfully things weren't worse...

The good Lord definitely was looking out for you! @anttn 🙌

In my experience, there is a reason that style of footwear is called slippers!

Please take it easy for awhile!

True that, I hope I still have some credit left 😅

I will try to stay chill a bit, I said "try" because we just arrived to the countryside, this marvelous place where there's always something to do, haha !

Have a lovely weekend dear and thank you again !

😱

Those slippers are dangerous, true!! And it's not the same using them on a carpet where the chances to slip are lower or in the bathrooms where the tiles are like an "ice skating surface" 😅

Take care, @anttn! Throw away these slippers and I hope the pain goes away soon.

Hotel slippers are indeed dangerous. I never use them and have my own extra anti slip socks or slippers with me.
Take care 😘

Good to hear it is improving 🤗 hope it heals good and quickly.

Just a little bit, depending on what size suitecase or bag I travel with. 😉

Thanks a lot, I am still in Sweden. Right now I am in the centre of it. For the next 3 weeks also 😎
It was -12 today and everywhere snow. I drove 4 hours up north to the next stay. The sky is clear, crisp and blue. So beautiful everywhere.

Have a great Sunday 😘

We saw reindeer on the road today… many of them. One group I took a video from. Put it on YouTube. Will share in the next days as a post.
We go further north tomorrow again. So probably the day after 🤓
I so love driving in the snow ❄️

Yes, do take care with the work at the house.
Good to hear it is going slightly better.

Thanks 😘 enjoy yours!

Yes, it was magical… so wonderful to see.
Today, sadly too far away and too dark, I saw an other moose and her young. I couldn’t get a photo.
Hope we see much more wildlife the more north we go.

It’s awesome. If it is a dry snow, clear weather… it is like as fast. If you have winter tires it behaves the same. I love it.

You are welcome 👋🏻😊 have a fantastic new month 😘

Exactly like that… it’s in my memory, accessible when I want.
Such a magical moments to be so close to wild life here.

Same as hubby, he needs to get used to it. Gets everyday better when he drives.
Sometimes it feels like asphalt. You just have to trust your winter tires.

Thank you kindly, you are welcome.
Enjoy your weekend 😘

Man, that's scary, what you're saying. I haven't stayed in many hotels but I've experienced it every time I've stayed. Hotel slippers are a real death trap. They always slip. Luckily you got through it with some pain. I hope you never experience anything like this next time. I don't want to lose Anttn like this :D

The scene is from the Movie "Austin Powers: the spy who shagged me." It's a spoof movie based on the classic James Bond films. It's like any spoof film - very "stupid" humor, but it was pretty funny backnin it's time. Here is the full scene.

I'm now forced to believe so haha ! Perfect, we're planning to organize a family Cluedo for Christmas, like "who attacked Aunti Brunhilde with a toothbrush ??" This will be passioning ^^

I will definitely, rather than returning to Paris today, I preferred to stay one week to the country house, just spending all the evening by the stove healed me a lot :)

I actually do like baths but I have had painful experiences with them too ( in a hotel, in Spain ), a story I won't share here, as it's embarrassing and was super painful.

Yeah, baths are in fact quite dangerous !! I rather prefer the rivers and sea ones, even if they're possibly more hazardous 😅 !

I've come back in Paris for few days, well... Winter is far less pleasant here haha !

I hope you're doing well and that your plans for Christmas I read in one of your later articles will be nice ❤️

I particularly love swimming in rivers. We have great river beaches here, that are often pretty safe ( if you're not being stupid ). I am less of a fan of swimming in the sea, aside from exceptions, but I love the beach and dunes and the healthy effect of the sea(side) overall.

hope you're doing well and that your plans for Christmas I read in one of your later articles will be nice ❤️

Working on that. I really need to recharge and could use some good old family 🎄 time.

I like the fact that you're capitalizing on this mishap to take better care of yourself. But looking at the angle and the apex of the bathroom, I'd say that the universe really wasn't in a bad mood at the time.

And now that I think of it, the base of those slippers aren't supposed to be that way.
