August Full Moon
The August Full Moon shining bright here in Florida tonight. What a great way to close a great weekend. This is a special Blue SuperMoon, one of several yet to occur this year.
According to NASA, this rare Blue SuperMoon won't be seen again for another decade.
I was a little irritated that while I thought I had prepped for it, the battery on my remote shutter release had gone dead. I was still able to get a few decent shots by using the self-timer so the camera jiggle could settle down from pushing the shutter button.
Be sure to get out and see it live tonight and tomorrow!
This is the same shot cropped in a little bit.
Taken with Sony A7RIV 200-600mm zoom lens plus 2x TC.

This photos looks so nice @ksteem, How I wish I could also captured this kind of photos within my sources
Thanks, I definitely pulled out my big camera for this one!
How beautiful is the moon. My 4 yr old son called out that the moon looked like a rabbit lastnight
Interesting, how does it look like rabbit?
The angle of the moon from Australia makes it look diff hold up I'll try edit
In Australia it's more like this. (Southern Hemisphere)
Haven't seen the pic yet, looking forward to the Southern view if you're still able to get it uploaded.
Wow photography of the moon, you have taken a very clear photo. Taking pictures like this with a powerful zoom lens is a joy
Thanks, and yes it definitely brings me joy :)
wow the photo of the full moon is really amazing I really like my friend
Thank you. It was powerful to get out and see.
Those are still some great photos! I got to see a bit of it this morning on my way in to work. We are finally getting a stretch of nice weather again.
Glad you got a chance to see it!
Once in a decade full Moon? I was under the impression that full Moon happened all the time. Wow! It's so beautiful.
While there will be 4 more SuperMoons this year, this is a very special Super Blue Moon. The next won't be until January 2037.
I'm no expert, but for more detailed description and definition, check out this CNN link:

Hi @ksteem,
The special blue supermoon is wonderful and the photographs you took are spectacular.
Thank you!
Well, yesterday was going to be a super moon and when I looked out the window it was already there haha
Yes one of those strange ones that for us actually occurred in the middle of the day.. The benefit was it appeared full both the night before and the night after! It was gorgeous last night as well.
Great photos of the month)
And a great lens
I also once tested 200-600, but on my sony a6400
and it's an incredible experience
It was my first lens and still my main go to for the shots I like.
I also have the 100-400 zoom, which I like, but the one thing that keeps it from being my go to is that there is no lock on the zoom. When carrying it around, it constantly stretches itself out to full length when it should stay compacted for carry. I can't fathom why they did not put a simple lock button on it.
and what exactly is the 100-400 sigma lens? Because this is the first time I hear about such a problem
It's a Sony lens, not a Sigma. Other zoom lenses I've had in the past had a little latch on the side to lock the zoom. This 100-400 Sony does not. The 200-600 Sony is larger and heavier, but it has an "internal" zoom and does not change size when you zoom it.
Interestingly, I have not heard of such a problem
Wow! Well done! Those shots are so crisp. It was cloudy here and I missed it, but I'm loving seeing other people's photos.
Thank you and hello stranger. Been quite a while since I've seen you about. Glad to see you around. Hope things are good for you all around.
Hi! Yes, I've been busy but life is good. Always glad to spend time here when I can. 💖
Just noticed you made the big move to Florida, all in all, how are you liking it?
Yes, we moved here at the end of March early April. Really loving it so far. So nice to be away from all the cold, snow, fireplace, and yard maintenance. We were warned about the heat, but so far hasn't been that bad (other than when our AC went on fritz). Love seeing the sun again, and the beach visits are just fantastic.
About 5 years ago, I used an 800 mm lens! I especially like the craters on the moon's sideline!
Yes, it's quite interesting to crop in and see the extra details.
