Growing on a stem

I see some flower or weed growing on a stem every now and then but this one I would say is quite catchy to the eye.

This is in a the garden in the guest house I stayed in Melville station, Durban.

The stem is just about four meters tall with no leafs on, kind of half dead I think but still serving a purpose of beautifying the garden.
Just one of those beauties around me...
