Hidden World's / My Macro Portfolio #1

(Edited)

I started learning macro photography in 2013, my passion was born out of a feirce debate on facebook about the costs of achieving cool macro images.

I was annoyed at being told I'd have to invest thousands, I love DIY photography and it wasn't long before I discovered you can turn a cheap $50 DSLR into a macro power house for almost nothing. And remember this was in 2013.

It's a classic trait of the photography world, the notion you need expensive gear. I bought a reverse ring for $2, this allowed me to attach my kit lens to the camera backwards, inverting the physics of the looking glass, and essentially becoming a magnifying glass.

The next issue was light, the onboard flash would cause hard shadows and dirty lighting. I bought an old SLR minolta flash from the early 80s for $3 in a Charity shop and carved out used cereal box and some baking paper as a diffuser.

Of course for my troubles I looked nothing less than glorious with my odd looking camera with garbage attached to it, however the images speak for themselves, I hope.

I will post a visual demonstration on how to achieve this in the coming weeks as the blog grows. It is a real liberal experience learning macro photography, you can literally find beautiful images everywhere.

Peace and Love,
Cotton.

very good photos .. but if you don't mind i will give you an advice

At the beginning you told about your story how you started learning this kind of photos .. i think it's better to write all your story together .. and then tell us about each photo what's the story behind it .. so we can learn more about this kind of macro photography

Thank you
