Wax.
We are in the spring period and bees produce a large amount of wax, thanks to the continuous influx of nectar derived from blooms. Beeswax is currently very scarce in the market and very often we find adulterated wax, or from other sources. This is because there are many uses of wax and the amount of energy used to make it by bees is very high (to produce 1 kg of wax bees consume about 10kg of honey).
The wax is secreted by special glands and in greater quantity by the young bees.
As we have seen in this representation realized thanks also to the help of @pab.ink, the bees are provided with small hooks on the hind legs, with them they will extract the small wax flakes produced by the glands on the belly, And they will build the hexagons to make the hive.
In this period it is easy to find spontaneous constructions inside the hive that very often make the operation of visit, very difficult. Inside the beehive the wax plays a key role, seat of the brood, and of the supplyes, is also the bearing structure of the beehive itself. It has been discovered over the years that bees perceive the force of gravity and use it to always build aligned and precise fava beans.
Also the wax is not eternal and inside the hive its consumption is very fast, being in fact the seat of the larvae, is consumed every time a small bee is born, both to gnaw the small cap that covers it, that will settle within the cell itself.
It is important for the beekeeper to collect his wax, to create new sheets to give to the bees. This way we’ll always have clean wax, we shouldn’t buy it and the bees will have more energy to make honey.

I have about 5 pounds of wax that I rendered about 5 years ago. I can still smell the honey in it.
