Hmmn Ubiquiti,new to me. Interesting though. The connection process you detailed has some humour in it. When you say the support person was asking you do something that defeats one key reason Ubiquiti was bought in the first place. Then how you discovered you misread something on the screen ab initio. Things like these often happen in new installations though.🙂.
Congrats on your new acquisition, I think it will be worth every penny.
