Radio signals emitted by the planets.

Radio signals emitted by the planets.

A group of researchers from the University of Queensland discovered radio emissions from planets with the help of the Dutch national observatory ASTRON, it is something that also occurs on earth and on other planets in the solar system, since when the solar wind collides with the field The magnetic field of a planet produces powerful radio waves, which is why these astronomers would have captured for the first time the radio emissions originating in the magnetic field of planets beyond the solar system.

The team of researchers focused on looking at red dwarf stars that are much smaller than the sun, although they can live much longer and many of them are known to have intense magnetic activity, launching powerful stellar flares and with them causing emissions of radio, remember that radio emissions are nothing more than another type of electromagnetic radiation and that a star can expel in its flares a wide variety of electromagnetic emissions, visible light, x-rays, infrared, radio waves, etc. Between each one the emissions of a star can vary, although they seem chaotic outbursts, they are like fingerprints and radio astronomers can analyze them and in this way know the characteristics of a star.

So these news researchers were on a search job analyzing red dwarfs but every now and then they came across an older red dwarf star, which means it is also less violent and magnetically inactive, red dwarfs at a certain age coming into a much calmer phase, which can last tens of billions of years, much longer than the estimated life of our sun, but what strange to researchers is that despite being magnetically inactive stars, they still picked up radio signals coming from them.

The conclusion they reached is that the signals do not actually come from the magnetic connection of the stars and the planets that orbit it, which are invisible to us, something similar to the interaction between Jupiter and its moon io, or what happens with our Earth itself with its auroras that also emit powerful radio waves due to the interaction of the Earth's magnetic field with the solar wind.

The next steps for the researchers is to confirm the real existence of these proposed planets in the four stars analyzed, which are the farthest of them 165 light-years away from us, at the moment the existence of large planets the size of Jupiter would be the clearest explanation to the phenomenon captured, although the researchers do not rule out that there are smaller planets the size of the earth since they could do exactly the same, there may well be worlds similar to ours but with a much more powerful protective magnetosphere, they would be amazing worlds Bright worlds, enveloped by the lights of powerful auroras.
