In 2001 a team of archaeologists discovered in the Djurab desert in Chad, a group of fossilized remains between 6.8 and 7.2 million years old, during the analysis they observed the bones of an organism that had small teeth and that it apparently walked upright, this led them to conclude that the Sahelanthropus Tchadensis was a human ancestor, the oldest known ancestor until recently, older even than the young Lucy of 3.2 million years.

However, the study caused some rejection in the scientific community, since it had not been reviewed by peers, this is by independent researchers, a practice that is considered essential when making scientific publications, now thanks to a femur found near the remains, a second analysis has revealed that the creature did not walk upright but on four legs and that therefore it is not a hominid but an ape, probably a small female, which explains the small size of the teeth.
