Dionaea muscipula (Venus flytrap): exercise with Adobe Illustrator - Dionaea muscipula (Venere acchiappamosche): esercizio con Adobe Illustrator

Hello everyone and thanks for being here on my blog.

I simply love carnivorous plants and one of the first species I cultivated was the Dionaea muscipula, or better known as Venus flytrap.

We are talking about the probably most famous carnivorous plant in the world. In fact, it’s the first species that most people think of when it comes to this type of plant!

The most peculiar characteristic of Dionaea is given by its leaves, which have sharp teeth (or cilia) and which constitute the traps. When the prey approaches the leaf tip, the sensors are stimulated and the leaf closes with a snap with a mechanism called, in botanical language, tigmonastia.
After a certain period of time, which depends on the individual varieties, the digestive phase begins with which the plant takes care of degrading and splitting the captured prey to obtain the nutritional elements.

Last week I saw a very popular challenge on Instagram that proposed to create an illustration using only 12 colors. I'm always looking for new ideas to improve with graphics, so I thought I'd give it a try too!

The Venus Flytrap is the subject of my exercise today with Adobe Illustrator. In particular, I thought of creating an illustration in vector graphics starting from a photo.

Is there any fan of carnivorous plants among my followers? I hope so.
Thanks for reading this far.

See you next time,
