In recent days, I went back to creating a logo for a hypothetical activity. Today I decide to share the main steps that led me to the result on the cover. In the same initial image, you find the caption "Join LOGOBAKERY": for those wishing to learn more, you can find the post with more info CLICKING ON THIS LINK. In short, Logobakery is an initiative with which I create simple logos for initial and non-professional use, which can then be purchased in case a hypothetical customer wants to do so.

Today: CAPELLI A CAPPELLO

As usual, I started from a reference job area, in this case thinking of a specialized hairstyle center. The playful name I thought of is "Capelli a Cappello", which could be translated into English with something like "Hat hair".

The complete logo I wanted to create had to have 3 components: a figurative element, a text element made up of the letters of the name, and a third minor element that describes the activity to which the logo belongs.

Let's focus on the figure: I created a series of geometric elements with the aim of obtaining something that could recall a hair, in particular a single half of a hair. In the figure below, you can see what I did: various circular elements overlapping and of different colors, which were then cut and joined in that gray-colored figure that you see inside the largest circle.

This type of step is a classic one in creating graphics in vector format.

In the second image, you can see the figure in solid black color. But how did I get to the series of figures you see on your right?

So, I took the figure I got earlier, created a mirror copy of it, and placed it next to the original; I partially overlapped the two ones and moved one of them a little higher; finally, I combined them to form a single element.
At this point: copy and paste! I created multiple copies for a simple reason: the reason can be found in the image below.

I placed all the copies in the same location, leaving one of them as the main for later use. Soon after, I started working on couples. I took a copy, then moved it a little higher or a little lower, creating useful outlines that would give the impression of shadows or feature lines. In the vector realization of these elements, it is necessary to subtract the upper shape from the one below. This is the reason why I acted on couples and not on the single: I moved the underlying copy a little higher or to the side, then I subtracted the figure in the foreground, making all that wasn't those outlines that interested me disappear.

Once I got the features I wanted, I placed them on the main figure. I don't know about you, it gives me the impression of both hair and hats - only one hat, in this case.

After having colored as I wanted and adding a shade to the figure in the foreground, I moved on to the text element: "Capelli a Cappello". I used an open license font, the one named “Lobster”.

I turned all the letters into vectors and started repositioning the words to my liking. Finally, I created a kind of outline around the writing, changing its color.

And here we are.

I finished by adding some simple words with very thin strokes that I slightly distorted. Then I joined all the elements: the textual name above the initial shape, and the descriptive words immediately below.

Work done!

Nothing particularly complicated, although as a logo I didn't mind, and it seemed quite nice to me. What do you think about it? I hope I left you a smile or some ideas. I give you an appointment for the next episode that I'll publish in the coming weeks. I have already created a logo which I will not reveal the name of, but which will concern the world of personal training.

To the next!
