A BEAUTIFUL BRUSH - FOOTED BUTTERFLY...JUST ONE OF THE MANY BEAUTIFUL BRUSH-FOOTED BUTTERFLIES OUT THERE...
Butterflies in the large and varied Nymphalidae family are commonly known as brush-footed butterflies. There are quite a few distinct subfamilies in the family, with more than six thousand species, and the butterfly I'm about to show you today in this post belongs to the Heliconiinae subfamily. Since that subfamily is rich and varied in itself, with many quite different-looking species, I'll tell you that the protagonist of this post belongs to the Argynnini tribe in the aforementioned Heliconiinae subfamily. Brush-footed butterflies in that tribe are commonly known as fritillaries, and the species I'm talking about belongs to the genus Boloria. The scientific name of the species is Boloria dia.
It isn't very common where I live. I mean, it should be, but the number of butterflies is declining, so I've seen this species rarely in the last few decades.
Boloria dia is commonly known as the Weaver's fritillary or violet fritillary. Larvae feed on Violaceae(Violets) and Rubus species (Blackberries, Raspberries, Dewberries, Cloudberries)
That's all. Hope you like butterflies. I mean, who doesn't? But who knows, maybe you are one of those weirdos who find them ugly.
As always on Hive, the photographs are my work.

beautiful creature. 😎👍🏼
Wow, what a beauty. Butterflies are already naturally beautiful, but you enhanced them even more. 😍
Yes, the markings and colors on the butterfly's wings are like an abstract art museum in nature, so much beauty. Caterpillars are also colorful for the most part. Insects in general have amazing things to show when seen through a magnifying lens.
🙂
WOW -- what a detailed view into one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen!

That thing is pretty! What great macro shots you picked up there. Such a shame the numbers of butterflies are declining. They are beautiful insects that help pollenate plants. Gorgeous specimen you captured in pictures there!

Hello @borjan,
You leave me fascinated with that butterfly and the level of detail in the photos. I often come across these beautiful creatures; they fly alongside me when I’m cycling or cross right in front, and I always smile. I love it when that happens because it feels as though I’m flying with angels all around me.
True, there is something angelic in butterflies in flight; they also resemble litlle flowers in motion ... definitively one of those nice, uplifting things nature can provide a traveler.
😂
Not me :) Stunningly beautiful
