The Crypto trilema
Untill it is solved, there can be no inovation. What projects like ETH, SOL, ADA, AVAX do is to compromise one of the aspects for another.
Want speed? Get centralization.
Want security? Get slow transactions.
Alas, #BTC is still the leading tech.

As you have just said, you must comprise one or two features for the other. Although there are solutions today that could help bring crypto trilema to reality, but it would make a Blockchain protocol somewhat centralized hence one can say that crypto trilema can not be achieved.
