I think that your argument is largely correct. We must remember, the consumers of these services and the data they generate are the real value the tech giants. This data can of course be sold at a premium.

I think the motivation to combine all these stand alone services would be strong when one takes into consideration the new players entering the market and recent moves made by Microsoft in strengthen its portfolio of offerings.
