I don't know if they really reduce the spread of the virus, not sure if they can bring up data supporting that.
But I believe that they don't create the variants. At least, variants can emerge without the existence of vaccines...

I agree, evidence shows that the vaccines do not reduce the spread. I also agree that the vaccines do not create the variants themselves, but the vaccines apply the selective pressure on the virus, just as antibiotics apply selective pressure on bacteria.

Isn't them creating pressure on the virus is a proof that they work, though? I hear a lot of talk from people who say that vaccines do nothing, and I don't know what to believe anymore...

These vaccines were designed for the Alpha spike protein. That would select for spike mutations that would get around it. I see what your saying though. Since the mutations of Omicron are so far removed from Alpha, the pressure is gone.

It would also mean that when Pfizer comes out with their Omicron version, we should see new variants crop up unless it is sterilizing like the old school vaccines we are familiar with growing up. I don't think it was smart to make vaccines against just the spike protein.

Just to let everyone know, I'm not the type that has a closed mind. I'm willing to take in new evidence, etc. I'm a science nerd and transhumanist, but I'm also not so naive that I believe everything that the government and corporations spew forth.
